February 17: THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETTY  
Residing quietly beneaththe floorboards are little people who live undetected in a secret world to bediscovered, where the smallest may stand tallest of all.  From the legendary Studio Ghibli (“SpiritedAway,” “Ponyo”) comes “The Secret World of Arrietty,” an animated adventure basedon Mary Norton’s acclaimed children’s book series “The Borrowers.”

March 9: JOHN CARTER, also in Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D
 From Academy Award®–winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes “John Carter”—a

sweeping action‐adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom
(Mars). “John Carter” is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose
highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past
and present. The film tells the story of war‐weary, former military captain John Carter
(Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly
embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet,
including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn
Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he
realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

2012 marks the 100th anniversary of Burroughs’ character John Carter, the original

space hero featured in the series, who has thrilled generations with his adventures on
Mars.

May 4: MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, also in 3D and IMAX 3D (Marvel Studios)

This is the one I’m most excited about!  –>
Sinceancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passedthrough the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland.In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald)confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.
Merida is a skilled archer and impetuousdaughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice ofEmma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defiesan age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive LordMacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice ofCraig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). October 5: FRANKENWEENIE, also in Disney Digital 3D
From creative genius Tim Burton(“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,”a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing hisbeloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring hisbest friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out,Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting anew “leash on life” can be monstrous.
A stop-motion animated film,“Frankenweenie” will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, whichwill elevate the classic style to a whole new experience.
In Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” young Victor conducts ascience experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to faceunintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.

    momto8 … exciting, huh? We don't go to alot of movies in the theatre (expensive!!), only a chosen few. I'm sure some of our chosen few are on this list!
