Tropical Traditions Organic Moisturizing Cream

April 18, 2012COMtnMom

I recently tried one of Tropical Traditions organic moisturizing creams, made with organic Virgin Coconut Oil and Virgin Palm Oil.

The 4 oz. container is a nice size, not huge but just right.  I find when I get jars of lotion much larger than that, they get old before I’ve used them up.

They also have some great sounding lotions, but I prefer cream for its thickness.  Maybe it’s just my imagination, but they seem to moisturize better.   I thought the cream was a great consistency – it soaked in nicely without feeling too greasy.

Tropical Traditions moisturizing creams are 100% natural.  They are hand-made and contain no alcohols, no artificial fragrances, and no petroleum products.

Arnica – It’s Homeopathic Uses

I chose Arnica, with the specific intent of trying it out on a somewhat recent injury that is still bothering me.  I sprained my ankle while chasing my wild toddler at the playground, and my mom told me several of her friends have had good results using Arnica on sprains.

Arnica is often used as a homeopathic medicine, said to be good for swelling, muscle soreness, or bruising.

Wikipedia describes, “Arnica montana has been used medicinally for centuries, however there are no scientific studies that prove the medical effectiveness. … Arnica is currently used in liniment and ointment preparations used for strains, sprains, and bruises.  Commercial arnica preparations are frequently used by professional athletes”

I found some at my local health food store in gel form, but it had no scent and was a bit sticky.  So I liked the idea that Tropical Traditions Arnica Cream included wintergreen and pepperment oils for a cooling effect (and nice scent), and found the idea of applying a creamy lotion to my ankle much more appealing.

Everyone is different, and I’m sure results vary.  I found it soothing to rub Tropical Traditions Arnica Cream on my sore ankle, and do feel it has improved.

Tropical Traditions

If you are not already familiar with them, Tropical Traditions is a great place to purchase Coconut Oil or related products.  They have private farmers in the Philippines process their oil by hand, and you can’t find a better quality out there!
