Boma – Flavors of Africa at Animal Kingdom Lodge

On our second trip to Disney World, our only repeat dining experience was at Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Boma.  That’s how much we loved it!

Not only does eating there give you an excuse to mosey around and check out this amazing, African themed Deluxe Disney Resort and its savannah with live animals; but it also offers some of the best and most interesting buffet dining available at Disney World Resort.   It’s themed and laid out as if you are visiting an African marketplace – such fun!

Delicacies are prepared before your eyes in the open kitchen, featuring a wood fired grill.  Picky, American-fare only diners fear not … they will have many items you recognize, too (including some amazing roasted meats).  But the African foods, oftentimes sweet, are the real treat here.

Choose from coconut curry seafood soup, three flavors of hummus served with amazing cracker flat bread, or the infamous Zebra Domes for dessert – you are bound to find something here that will keep bringing you back again and again.  You can get an idea of some of the items on the buffet, and current pricing, on this menu.

And here’s a tip:  If you are celebrating something special, let them know and they will prepare something special just for you!

Just a little extra Disney Magic that made our Anniversary Celebration that much more memorable.  We’ll be back again, Boma!

I agree, we LOVE Boma! On my first visit, they had this amazing peanut rice (I know it sounds odd – but it tasted like peanut butter and was really good paired with the meats) – and they’ve never had it on my two return visits.

Haven’t eaten at this restaurant but will definitely keep it in mind – coconut curry seafood soup sounds delicious!

In all my visits to Disney, I’ve never eaten here. Will definitely add it to my list of priorities.

Boma is definitely one of our favorites. It is the only location that our eight year old requested for our last trip. We have celebrated our youngest son’s birthday there twice now over the years and their presentation is magical.

Yes, Boma is a great place to celebrate an anniversary. Won’t make it there for ours (this Friday) but why am I now craving Zebra Domes? 🙂

This looks like a great restaurant. I have an ultra-picky daughter when it comes to food, but she’s been known to stray a little from her chosen diet when she’s at a buffet. I would love to take her here and see what she comes back with on her plate (although asking for the coconut curry seafood soup might be pushing it).

We never have eaten there (yet), but the food always smells so good! We will have to eat there one of these days.

I agree- Boma, the Animal Kingdom Lodge (especially Kidani) are hidden jewels. And Jiko is just other worldly!!

We haven’t been to the Animal Kingdom yet but would love to go to Boma. All the food you described sounds so delicious. I just had dinner and I feel like eating some chocolates now. =) What a cute photo and yummy on that plate.

Cute picture! And a great place to celebrate your anniversary 🙂 Boma and Jiko are both in our top 5 favorite restaurants at WDW. I dream about that buffet often!
