Magical Blogorail: Disney Breakfasts

Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney Donna Kay and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail.

Wait, “Disney Breakfast”?  People take time to eat breakfast, when they’re on vacation at Disney?

Truth be told, my family’s Disney World trips have thusfar been too infrequent (read:  Every minute is oh, so valuable!) for us to indulge in many sit-down, leisurely breakfast experiences.  Add to the equation that we are typically on the Disney Dining Plan, with one table service restaurant slot available to us at some point during the day.  The result is that I have no fancy breakfast tales to regale you with today.

But alas…. there’s always a pixie dusted dream!

Disney Breakfasts – The Dream

Aaaahhhhh… but being the Type-A Obsessive Disney Mom planner that I am, I do indeed have a dream wish list of Disney Breakfasts that I really, really want to try someday.  If you’ve been before, which do you recommend most?

#1 ~ O’Hana Character Breakfast

Love Lilo and Stitch!  And totally love the atmosphere of the Polynesian Resort!   How can you go wrong on your Florida vacation with such a festive, Tropical Start to your day?  We’ve had dinner at O’Hana before, but I’m really excited to try this character breakfast sometime.

And I’ve heard tantalizing things about THE JUICE

#2 ~ Donald’s Safari Breakfast at Tusker House

We’ve come oh, so very close to doing this… but canceled at the last minute because our Animal Kingdom days always feel too short (little kids, Western Time Zone – we are not rope droppers!) .  Huge fans of the tasty mix that includes some African fare at Boma’s, I know we will [eventually] love the Tusker House breakfast buffet.

Plus, the fact you can combine this with receiving a priority seating at a  Finding Nemo afternoon show makes it even more appealing.  (Do they still do this?  Tried to find on Disney’s new website, but couldn’t find it to verify…)

#3 ~ Cape May Character Breakfast Buffet

Two reasons.  (1) Love the Hawaiian garb the characters sport, and (2) we have yet to explore the Beach Club Resort, which looks like a really fun and gorgeous area.

Put it on The List!

Disney Breakfasts ~ The Reality

So what do we usually eat in the mornings?  Do I starve my poor children?  Heck, no!  It’s VACATION, BABY… and in our family, food is always a vital cog in the wheel.

So for Disney Breakfast, it’s usually this:

Mickey Ice Cream Bar for Breakfast

Or this (on EPCOT day):

Disney Breakfasts EPCOT Chocolate Pretzel

Of if we’re really hungry, we use a quick service credit and get a hot breakfast to share between us, at our Disney resort food court.  Which isn’t too shabby at all – take a look at some of these fast, tasty options.

(These photos were shared by some Disney blogging friends.  Apparently, I’ve always been too famished to hold a photography session before devouring my food…)

Omelet at Everything Pop

Breakfast-Wrap-and-Potatoes
Breakfast Wrap and Potatoes
Breakfast Pizza
When you go with a Breakfast Pizza, you gotta have a Diet Coke!

These food courts seem to always serve surprisingly good food – we’ve never been disappointed.  And having a picky, very light eating child, we almost always have some extra quick service credits on our Dining Plan leftover for such purposes.

Aaaaaaannnd now that I get to the very end of this post, I recall that we actually have eaten at Chef Mickey’s for Breakfast – and we absolutely loved it!   HA!  Oh well, another post for another time… *o*

Great list! Our absolute favorite is Cape May Cafe for breakfast – the atmosphere, the food and the character interaction cannot be beat!

Frankly, I see nothing wrong with a Mickey bar for breakfast – sounds like the perfect way to start the day to me! 🙂

I love Pop for breakfast, you really can’t go wrong. But of your first three, I would recommend Cape May. It’s a great buffet, the characters are top shelf, the atmosphere is very comfortable and the walking path around the lake offers many enjoyable activities.

I’m not really that much of a fan of the character breakfasts, especially the ones in the parks, mainly because of the time they take up in the parks when I could be doing other things. But when we go with friends who always like to go to one character breakfast, we go with them. One of the ones we did was Donald’s Safari Breakfast, and the food was quite good. Overall, I guess I am more of an attractions person than a food person. 🙂

The trick to Tusker House is to get an 8 am ADR on a day when it opens at 9. We finished at 8:45 and were at the rope drop with everyone else in time to make a mad dash towards the Safari! And since they got rid of their show (sad), you don’t miss anything!

We love Cape May and Tusker House!! We haven’t had the pleasure of trying Chef Mickey’s yet, but I am sure it is fabulous. We would rather have a big breakfast and smaller lunch, it’s been fun reading everyone’s breakfast plans today.

Great list of breakfast places. We are actually a few weeks away from our first stay at Pop so we will definitely be trying the waffles! I agree that the food courts have great food for little ones for breakfast. We love Cape May if we want something “fancier” but our daughter is a huge fan of quick service breakfasts!
