Ultimate X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphones for Athletic Use

May 6, 2013COMtnMom

X1_Momentum_PurpleIf you aren’t completely thrilled with your athletic use headphones, you need to read on and learn a little more about the X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphones.

Because you will be completed thrilled with these.

The X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphones have features that I didn’t even know existed.  Built for athletic use of any sport and any climate, these ultra light headphones are weatherproof and sweatproof, and can be rinsed after use for a fresh, clean fit.

I tried out a pair of “X-1 for Women” Momentum In-Ear Ultra Light headphones.  Here’s what I thought of how they fit and performed.

X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphones ~ Features

I’ll start by stating the first thing that all true music lovers want to know:  the sound quality is excellent.

But in addition to that, allow me walk you through the three fantastic features that make the X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphones truly stand out above the rest.

1.  Pause and Volume Control Device

X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphones, In Cord Pausing and Volume Control

Although they can provide audio for any device, the X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphones were made especially for iPod and iPhone.  Using them with these Apple devices will gain you the ability to use this nifty, slim pause and volume control device built right into the cord.

Located just a few inches down from your right earphone is strip of three buttons, allowing you to pause, increase, or decrease the volume with one easy touch.   No more delayed, awkward digging for your iPod tucked in that rear pocket when someone talks to you at the gym.  It works really slick, and quickly became one of my favorite things about the X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphones.

2.  Reflective Cord

Note the reflective cord (left), and the 5 choices of ear tips

In the (admittedly crappy) photo on the left, I used a flash.  Notice how nicely the reflective cord works!  I think this is an awesome feature, as runners and walkers alike often find themselves out and about in pre-dawn or  post-sunset lack of light.

The X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphone cord is soft and flexible, and feels almost like it’s made from a fabric material.  It delivers fantastic sound.  I found it quite sensitive to the touch – one day while walking during my lunch break at work I heard a repeated scratching noise.  I realized it was my dangling earrings tapping against my headphone cord.   Not an issue, as I’m pretty sure you shouldn’t/wouldn’t be wearing dangling earrings when you exercise anyways… I just thought it was interesting.

3.  Five Ear Tips to Choose From

You read that right.  Your X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphones come with 5 different sizes and styles of ear tips for you to experiment with, in order to find that ultimate fit and comfort that works just for you.  This offers a secure fit to stay in place for even the most rigorous of activities.

Note in the photo above, you can select from foam, tree tip, or 3 different sizes of a soft (silicone?) material.

As someone who apparently has a deformed right ear, who can’t keep an Apple standard earbud in place to save my life… I was thrilled to find that 4 of these 5 options, all but the largest one, were comfortable options for me.   The X-1 Momentum In-Ear Headphones are more comfortable, and stay in place better, than any headphones I’ve ever owned – hands down.

Hi RJ, thanks so much! I’m trying to get back into running… I saw a great pin on Pinterest that said “Run While You Still Can” – HA! So true, and now my inspiration. That now goes through my head every time I head out, and my knees kill me that first quarter mile. 😉

Heading over to your site now, nice to ‘meet’ you & thanks for swinging by!

I LOVE your header! This whole site is awesome! I have been thinking about starting to run (although it would probably be a jog). My husband runs, but switched to headphones because he couldn’t find a pair of earphones that stay in while he runs….have you tried them out while running? Will these stay in?

      Hi Jamie,

Well to be accurate, and per your distinction… yes, I do – but mine is definitely more of a “jog”, too! Ha! “Run” is too strong of a word for my level right now. 🙂

And yes, I’ve tried them out jogging. I was wearing them “lightly” and one started to wiggle out, so I pushed them both in farther and then they didn’t move AT ALL. Easily stayed in place. And still comfortable, although just a tighter fit when you wear them wedged into your ears like that. I believe that’s actually their intended/proper use and fit. And the foam tips are particularly awesome – completely mold to the inside of your ear.

Hope that answers your question (I think I’ll email you, too 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by!
