Dublin Dog Trail Gear ~ “Koa” and “All Style, No Stink” Collars

October 4, 2013COMtnMom

dublindog_logo-smlDublin Dog are the makers of quality canine products for people who love the outdoors, and want to include their dog(s) on their adventures.  They back all their products up with a satisfaction guarantee.  And they’ve come up with some impressive technology for dog collars.  Our family dog Daisy tested out the “Koa” and “All Style, No Stink” styles.

These collars are high quality and truly designed with active dogs in mind, made to withstand any outdoor elements you and your pup come across during your exploring:  water, rain, snow, sweat, mud, trash, or even beach!

Dublin Dog All Style, No Stink Collar

Let’s start with the All Style, No Stink collar because it’s Dublin Dogs original dog collar design.  You know how most dogs love to swim, waddle through, or just plain ROLL in any form of water they are thrilled and oh-so-fortunate to come across during an adventure?   Sometimes (think clear mountain streams, with rock covered beds)… this is no big deal.  Other times, it is a (stinky!) big deal.

And dirty, mucky water baths of this sort make for stinky collars.   Stinky dogs, too… but unfortunately, you’re just going to have to hose your furry friend down.  🙂

Enter Dublin Dog’s awesome polymer blend dog collars, which utilizes their own proprietary E3 formulation:  Extreme Element Elastomers.

What does that mean exactly?  Well, it’s 100% waterproof, and is non-porous.  So there’s no hiding places for odor causing bacteria to linger, and they don’t retain dirt.   For maintenance, just wash in seconds with warm water and soap.  And Walla!  The collar is once again good to go, you know… “all style, no stink” like.

We actually liked this collar best, of the two we tried.  It’s a nice thickness, and features raised designs.  We’ve only used it for 3 weeks, but due to the nature of the E3 material used… I really anticipate no fading of the colors or design.  With 20 patterns to choose from, you’re sure to find a color and design that fits your Fido’s personal taste.

And while mild mannered Daisy didn’t need this kind of restraint, you Husky owners will be happy to know the All Style, No Stink collar packs in a pull strength of 1200 lbs per square inch.   Which isn’t a knock to Huskies, BTW.  The Canine Love of My Life was a Husky I owned for 12 years.  🙂

Dublin Dog Koa Collar

I really love this collar!  I’ve owned dogs for years, and have never seen anything quite like this.  But then again, I’ve always been a sucker for rainbow trout.

So first let me explain the only reason I favored the previous style over this one, is because our dog is kindof shaggy.  And since the All Style, No Stink collar is a little thicker, it could more readily be seen on her, vs the sleek Koa.  But the Koa collar is gorgeous, and I absolutely love the nature design concept of using the 3 colors/types of trout for the Trout Series!

It’s hard to see from the pictures, but I was surprised when I received mine so I’ll explain what these are like.  They are coated in what’s described as a “medical grade urethane” material, so have a rubber-like feel, to the touch.  But you can see what appears to be a more traditional woven fabric collar underneath.  The Koa trout collection strives for intricate, life-like imaging, and the collar print really does look vibrant.

You will get all the same no-stink benefits from this Koa collar.  That coating makes it impervious to dirt, moisture, and odor causing bacteria.

Both of these collars are very high quality.  The buckle hardwear is sturdy and substantial, but does not add a lot of weight.  The smooth urethane casing seems to make latching the buckle in one of the provided holes quite easy.

The Koa series includes UV inhibitors, so the collars will not yellow or fade from their original lovely designs.  They are available in 3 trouts patterns:  brook trout, rainbow trout, and brown trout; as well as 6 other vibrant patterns and colors.

Dublin Dog also includes very helpful instructions for determining the correct sizing for your pooch, including a template you can print out to measure their neck.

Daisy will be stink free and looking lovely in her Dublin Dog collars for years to come!  I had not previously heard of this brand, but definitely recommend them to dog owners.  Their quality is definitely there, and I feel the prices are reasonable as well.
