Family Fun At The Trampoline Park!

Get Air Trampoline Park Gymnastics Practice

Last week we went to to our local trampoline park Get Air (such a great name), located downtown Grand Junction in an old commercial silo building.  Holy cow was that unexpectedly fun!  All kids go crazy for this place, and I had been there once before, but previously just watched.  Mostly because I’m too cheap to pay my jumping admission.  And it seemed like… you know… it was for kids.

Lo and behold – Monday nights are “parents jump free” nights, so we made it an extended family affair.  And we ALL jumped, like Champions!

I was surprised at what a total blast this was.  We had SO MUCH FUN!  There’s something about doing youthful things like this, that you maybe haven’t done or felt in decades (seriously, when was the last time your body got thrown up into the air?), that makes a little kid giggle involuntarily bubble forth.  Accompanied by a feeling of glee.  It’s a good feeling!

(My Spring Stonewear came just in time...)
(My Spring Stonewear came in the Taa-Daah nick of time…)

My entire family was there… my brother & his family … even Nanna and Grandpa came to watch.  Because it was parents night, the owner played GenX music instead of Teenie Bopper Music.  You can really get your moves on to Nirvana, when you add in the bounce of a tramp.

As on over-anxious, over-protective mom, I found it fun to watch my little monkey son climb on obstacle courses, without worrying about him getting hurt.

I even took a few turns trying out trampoline flips into the pit full of foam cubes.

WARNING:  Foam pits are EXTREMELY difficult to get out of.

Did you know that??  I didn’t know that.

I jumped into one, all Rockstar-like, only to find myself floundering around for quite some time, trying to get out.  I actually experienced a little (irrational) moment of panic.  No matter what you try to push against to propel yourself up and out…. it’s just a CUBE OF FOAM, that gives way under you.   I couldn’t even flip over to get off my back.   My goodness, a literal #TheStruggleIsReal moment.  Crazy!  But still fun.

Never fear – I got the hang of it after a while, developing a backwards crab-like crawl to scramble my way out.  Feel free to use that.

My fearless nephew goes for it.

And if you’re still not convinced you’d like this place, and you’re a guy, well… they have a dodgeball area.

WARNING #2:  If you dads think “Adults vs. Kids” is a decent game strategy, it’s going be over quick.

They are smaller and faster than you.  Physical strength, prowess, and life experience are not going to help you win a game of dodgeball at the trampoline park against a pack of wirey, light-footed whippersnappers.  (Now you know… and knowing is half the battle!)

This whole experience turned out to be much more fun that I thought it would be.

When they called our band color, letting us know our 1 1/2 hour time limit was up… my brother staggers up to me, a relieved smile on his face, and says: “It’s our turn to leave.”  🙂  This was actually his idea, and he loved it.  It was just exhausting!  But in a good way.

Such a fun fitness and play idea for the whole family, so much better than spending the evening at home watching TV.  I encourage you to check out your local trampoline park if you’ve got one!

Cool! We have a similar place here. I never have been there, but our son has been for a couple of birthday parties and church outings. It always looks like fun! I’ll have to try it one of these days before I get much older. 🙂

That’s right, Steve… you better JUMP on that, before you get to be my age! 😉 Hahaha! If you do try it with your son, you’ll have to let me know what you think.

      Thanks for swinging by today!

Wait, you are older than I am? Surely not! I have actually worked on the plans for a couple of these trampoline places now. Unfortunately, our fee doesn’t include a free jumping session. Maybe I should renegotiate for next time.
