My kids have been having a blast trying out the Kidizoom. While my 10 year old has put in more time actually using it, my 4 year old also enjoy taking photos with it, and it was easy enough for him to figure out.
Before I even realized it was a feature, my daughter had discovered the games and was playing them in the car on our recent road trip to Denver. It also didn’t take long for them to discover how to utilize the built in frames feature.
We found the design to be intuitive and easy to use. It’s a great size, small and compact for young hands, with the bonus of not having to lug around heavy equipment. The 1.4 inch color LCD screen is a little small, but it is sufficient. The videos they recorded were high resolution, well focused, and of surprisingly good quality.
We leave the waterproof case on for extra protection, but be aware I think that reduces the audio sound recording level.

As for the waterproof case, I’m never brave enough to truly dip a camera into water. I think this is a very cool option, though, and we may have to record some of those fancy water gymnastics during one of our trips to the pool.
My daughter’s only complaint with the KidiZoom is that it doesn’t have a… wait for it… ZOOM! At least not one that we could find. But honestly, the recommended age range states 4-9, and I don’t think younger kids would even notice. She’s just used to using adult cameras, and enjoys having a zoom feature.
I think this is a solid quality product for the price point, and one my kids both enjoy. I like how it can withstand some bumps and bruises. The KidiZoom is build for kids, but it’s not some “kiddie quality” psuedo cam – it’s the real deal, just housed in a well thought out design that’s tough, simple, and works well for children.

To give you an idea of the resulting photo quality, these are all samples of the photos that my kids took with the Kidizoom. I’d say the best venue where they’ve been able to try out their action cam was during our summer visit to the Denver Zoo. They got some great shots, and we are really pleased with the quality of the photos.

i Have no doubt at all what this would be used for — my daughter would snag it ASAP to capture her skateboard moves. Right now, she borrows my iPhone which is a bit terrifying.
