6 Essential Travel Accessories for Summer

I’m leaving on a jet plane this weekend, and thought this was an excellent, affordable, and helpful list of travel accessories to bring along.  I just ordered an extra charger on Amazon this week, for my upcoming TravelingMom Disney Writers Retreat trip.  And I’m definitely adding cleansing wipes to my carry-on list!  What a great idea to wipe down your plane surroundings.  Because eww.

6 Essential Travel Accessories

Here are 6 of the hottest summer travel accessories:

  1. Cleansing wipes. Use antibacterial wipes when sitting down on an airplane or entering a cruise ship stateroom. They will minimize the risks of getting germs that can make people sick and ruin their travel plans. On the airplane, use them for the armrest, overhead knobs, seat belt buckle, and tray table. On a cruise ship stateroom or in a hotel room, use wipes on the television remote control, door knobs, toilet handle, and light switches.
  2. Apps for your phone. Traveling with the right apps can make your trip easier. Check for those that are helpful with traffic delays, maps, locating good restaurants, and more.
  3. Travel pillow. Bypass the travel pillow on the airplane and instead opt for taking your own. There are plenty of travel pillows to choose from today, including those that are inflatable, so they don’t take up much space. The “Evolution Cool” travel pillow is a top pick for savvy travelers.
  4. Portable charger. They come in many different sizes, and are easy to carry and store. They making charging on the go super simple and fast.
  5. Simple hygiene products. Forget taking bottles of hygiene products. Opt for those that are simple, ready to go, and will do the job well. Such products as mouth wipes and deodorant wipes work well for traveling.
  6. Travel journal. Invest in a small travel journal so that your adventures can be recorded. Record where you went, how you got there, who you were with, and what you did and saw. They are fun to look back on years later.

“Having some helpful accessories with you when you travel can help keep you and the family happier and healthier,” says “Mompreneur” Margie Floris, co-founder of Savvy Travelers designer beauty wipes. “As a mother of two, I find that planning ahead allows me to get to our destination and just relax with family.”

No Water? No Problem!  The company offers a line of pre-packaged individual cosmetic wipes

Great list. I recently went on a trip and had, luckily, downloaded the airline’s app because when in the air I got to watch free movies (but only through their app.)

As an allergist, I would also recommend two other less-essential travel accessories, if I could, for your allergy readers:
    1) Antihistamines. Allergy levels are different in different locations so while you may be good here, your destination might cause your allergies to be worse.
    2) Afrin is a good medication to use the day before and day of travel IF you have sinus congestion or sinus infection. It removes the skull-crushing pain that sometimes happens when passing through different altitudes.

And thanks for the post and having such a great blog.

Awesome tips! Agreed, that free-movies-via-airline-app is really slick. And although I always hope my allergies are *better* at my destination (Spring is rough in the orchard filled valley where I live)… remembering some allergy meds is a smart idea.

Thanks for stopping by, and for sharing.

      Tami
