I’ve Joined #TMOM as Outdoorsy TravelingMom!

After blogging at my own site for four years now, I've decided to take on a new adventure.  The past two months I was on trial as a guest writer at TravelingMom.com.  And I've now decided to officially join the  network of #TMOM travel writers!  I'll still be blogging here at Colorado Mountain Mom, but this should be a great sidebar that helps me grow as a writer and opens new doors. Outdoorsy TravelingMom Because my Colorado region is known for outdoor recreation,  and my family loves to play outside, my area of expertise will be "Outdoorsy TravelingMom".  One reason I'm excited to write for TravelingMom, is that the articles I'll be writing will be read by a large audience.  And along with that awesome social reach, comes additional clout for media stay opportunities.   Hopefully we'll get to explore some of the fantastic family resorts, dude ranches, and getaway options here in the Wild West... and bring the highlights and recommendations to you. I've already been assisted … [Read more...]

To All The Not-Invited Disney Social Media Moms

Ugly confession time.  I frivolously, foolishly, naively, and perhaps a bit arrogantly let myself get my hopes up for receiving an invitation to the famous Disney Social Media Moms blogging conference coming this May 2013. Well, the email invites went out yesterday.  I watched the flurry of excitement on Twitter, via the #DisneySMMoms hashtag, but my inbox remained empty.  It hit me kinda hard... I'd say I reached about a Level 3 on the Disney Crying Scale.   I even left work early to go home and lick my wounds. (Ok, so I came close to Level 4...) Recently feeling a bit stretched thin, and coming dangerously close to Blogger Burnout, my knee-jerk reaction to this turn of events was this: Fine. I can quit blogging now. Cause here's another ugly confession: The dream of being Disney's special guest, along with my family, for an event like the Disney Social Media Moms conference has been for me not just a primary blogging goal of mine... but literally my motivation for … [Read more...]

Atlanta’s “World of Coke” Houses History, Fun, & a BIG Secret

This past Fall I was able to attend the "Conversations With Coca-Cola" blogging conference, in downtown Atlanta.  On the agenda, a tour of their notorious museum World of Coke. Between the fascination with Coca-Cola's secret formula to the impressive story of this beverage giant enduring and growing to become the world's largest (500 beverage brands in 200 countries) - there's a whole lot of interesting history to behold here. I'm going to try and give you a photo walking tour of the fun exhibits we were able to take in at World of Coke, along with relaying a couple of the stories that our Coca-Cola Historian tour guide told us along the way. World of Coke ~ Coke Polar Bear Character Greeting No doubt it's the grown-up-kid, Disney-World-lover in me... but I was awfully excited about getting to meet the Coca-Cola Polar Bear.  When you first walk in to the main central area of the museum, there is a gorgeous central atrium. On the main floor is … [Read more...]

Best of Conversations With Coca-Cola Blogging Conference #CCLP

Last week I was invited as a guest of Coca-Cola to attend one of their regional blogging conferences, at their headquarters in Atlanta, GA.  They cut us Western U.S. bloggers  some slack by starting at 9:30 a.m. on the first day (time zone!).  But after that, it was full steam ahead with a packed schedule over the next two days. This is the first expenses-paid blogging event that I have been invited to, so other than a fun little mom getaway I wasn't sure what I'd be taking away from the experience.  It ended up being as beneficial as it was enjoyable, so I wanted to share with you the best of what I learned. What I Learned - How You Get Invited to a Blogging Conference When I received my email invite to attend the Conversations With Coca-Cola blogging conference, I already knew a good deal about the event.  I'd caught wind of the #CCLP hashtag on Twitter during a previous conference, watched some of my attending friends tweets, and shook my head in awe, pondering, "How … [Read more...]

Coca-Cola Conference #CCLP & Travel Week Extravanza

With just under a year of blogging under my belt, I recently received an exciting email invitation from Coca-Cola Public Affairs.  They are currently gearing up to host their 5th invitation-only Blogger Conference "Conversations With Coca-Cola", and I've been selected to attend from the Northwest Region. These fun conference events are being held for small, regional groups of bloggers and social media influencers.  It sounds like there will be less than 20 bloggers attending at Coke's Headquarters in Atlanta, GA - what a fun, intimate group. They fly us in, put us up in the downtown "W Hotel", and shuttle us back and forth to Coca-Cola each day. I'm pretty sure they're going to feed us, too.  At least I hope so.   It sounds like it will be a back and forth exchange:  Coke is interested to hear some "from the trenches" mom blogger input; I'm interested in meeting the Coke Polar Bear, touring the birthplace factory of my life-long beloved Diet Coke, and picking … [Read more...]

Disney Social Media Moms On the Road Celebration in Houston, TX #DisneyOnTheRoad

Any talk of "Disney Social Media Moms" has become the peak of blogging buzz excitement.  This highly coveted event has been held annually at Walt Disney World since 2010 (although they switched venues to Disneyland in 2014!).  It boasts a minimal registration fee, families are welcome to tag along, and attendance is by invitation only. While I dream of being including someday, for now I was happy to get a chance to participate in something new they are trying out this year:  Disney Social Media Moms "On-the-Road" Celebrations, held in three cities in 2012:  Houston, TX; Charlotte, NC; and Long Island, NY. This was a free, half day conference that included a great line up of speakers, free breakfast, some fun Disney Social Media Mom swag, and a great chance to meet some fellow (very likely Disney loving) bloggers. Disney On the Road 2013 Locations & Invitations UPDATE:  This event is still going strong as an annual tradition.  Locations for 2013 were San Francisco, Seattle, … [Read more...]
