My runDisney Princess Half Marathon Training ~ Dory Approach “Just Keep Running…”

runDisney training - dory just keep running

I've been running for about two months now, since I registered for my very first runDisney race... the Princess Half Marathon.  Woo hooo!  Not gonna lie, progress feels slow.  In my younger days, whenever I would pick up running it seemed I'd experience a breakthrough after about 2-3 weeks.  This time round, no lightning breakthroughs.  (*shakes head slowly, in mild disgust*) This will also be my first half marathon, and I really do have pretty high hopes, thanks to Jeff Galloway. I've been following his run-walk-run method, and it works likka champ!  I'm amazed how spot on his running time charts are, which I would have thought would vary greatly person-to-person.  But sure enough, when I use the 1:1 ratio (run 1 minute, walk 1 minute)... I'm averaging a 13 minute mile.  Just like Jeff said I would.  Pretty cool. I really love this.  If you haven't seen it - check it out.  It's been making running pain free for me, and much more enjoyable. I thought I'd have been able to … [Read more...]

My runDisney Princess Half Marathon Training ~ Trip & Weekend Plans

It's been about a month since I took the plunge and registered for the runDisney Princess Half Marathon - my first ever runDisney race, and first ever half marathon. Because that registration window for the half was around 4 hours long before it filled up, and because I hadn't been watching for, or planning on, it... it was an impulse decision. I told myself I'd make the investment in holding myself a spot, just in case I was actually able to pull off such a trip in February.  I had my doubts. Well, as you may or may not know, once you start making those ADRs ("Advance Dining Reservations", to the non-Disney brainwashed).... there's just no turning back! I was told by a Disney Reservation Cast Member that ALL the Disney Resorts are considered "host resorts" for the 2016 runDisney Princess Half weekend, and will have early morning transportation available.  First decision made:  My mom, daughter and I will be staying at Caribbean Beach. I'm trying to keep the costs down, and I … [Read more...]

Disney Wordless Wednesday – Wild Rides

alladins magic carpet ride

I'm joining in on the fun Disney Wordless Wednesday hop this week, since I'm really missing Disney lately and I love today's theme:  Wild Rides! On our previous trips, we've had a "just barely tall enough for a few crazy rides" 4 year old, and a "not super crazy about wild rides" 9 year old.  Given those parameters, here are some of our family's favorite WILD RIDES... For pure adrenaline, we all love Test Track. A Magic Carpet flies through the air... that's wild, right? Waterslides DEFINITELY count as wild.  The largest one at Caribbean Beach is much zippier than you'd think... Ever rode in Mater's mouth while he drives backwards?  You guessed it. Wild. And if "super exciting and full of happy anticipation" counts as wild, this is one of our absolute favorites... What's your favorite wild ride at Disney? *o*     *o*     *o* Thanks to Deb at Focused On the Magic for hosting this fun weekly Disney photo blog hop.  Join in the fun and click on … [Read more...]

Disney Cars Party Ideas ~ Free Printable #DisneySide

Disney Cars Party Pinata

We recently had a chance to participate in the Disney at Home Celebration campaign, where Disney parks sent out a big box of party goodies to host our own #DisneySide party with family and friends.  My preschooler son is age 4, and a fan of all things Cars.  Here are the highlights of our recent party, plus some Disney Cars Party Ideas you can use to host your own party! Also, be sure to check out this great resource Disney has put together for anyone to use, full of Disney Side Celebrations themes, activities, and recipes inspiration.  I've got a free printable that I created for you to use at the end of this post, but they have many cool game and activity resources you can print for free from that website, too. Disney Cars Party Ideas ~ Food I liked the idea of theming the food with cute Cars logo names and labels.  We went with: Sally's Cozy Cones (Bugles) Luigi's Tower of Tires (mini chocolate donuts) Lightning McQueen's Stoplight Treats (brownies or rice krispie … [Read more...]

Disney Wordless Wednesday ~ Unforgettable (Photobombs)

PhotoPass Family With Fish Lips Bomp at Magic Kingdom

We just returned a couple of weeks ago from one of our all time best Disney World trips!  We tried a split stay for the first time, with a 2-night ocean break in between.  It was fantastic, and is probably our new favorite Florida vacation itinerary, making it very hard to leave. Disney Wordless Wednesday I love using Disney's PhotoPass service to capture family shots during our trip.  But I had to chuckle at some of our results this time, hence my take on this week's Disney Wordless Wednesday theme Unforgettable... these were either traditional photobombs, or just photos that kindof... err... "bombed"! Pretty, but mildly creepy, mystery princess photobombs my daughter's big Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reveal. Falling under the "bombed photo" category... I retroactively discover that my 4 yr old son has made fish lips, in nearly every single family Disney PhotoPass picture during our vacation. And last, another "bombed photo" that is, admittedly, my own fault.  No words, … [Read more...]

Take Your Happy With You

Leaving the Poly

Last week my family vacationed at Disney World.  And as is true of anyone reaching the conclusion of a fun filled vacation... we were very sad to see it come to an end.   This is how we felt, waiting for the Disney Magical Express to pick us up and take us back to the airport. Even if you are generally a positive person, this is something that's hard to rally from. You save, and plan, and save, and wait, and save, and anticipate, and save... for us, a year or more.  The trip is fantastic, but a total whirlwind that feels like it passes in the blink of an eye.  And then it's over. As we were frantically zipping up suitcases, and stuffing souvenirs in every nook and cranny we could find, we heard the bell hop's knock on our hotel room door.  He's there to help us with our bags, and when we finally make clear to our 4 year old "we're leaving Disney, we have to go" - he breaks down in tears.  Not really even tantrum-type tears (he's got those, too), but more the heartbroken-type … [Read more...]
