Magical Blogorail ~ Most Magical Disney Memories

Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney Donna Kay and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. Here are some of my most magical Disney moments: Magic Kingdom with Nanna & Grandpa I hadn't been to Disney World since my own childhood, now returning as a mom myself, with the grandparents in tow.  That entire trip was magical, and totally sold me on bringing grandparents along to Disney! It's hard to top the Magic Kingdom for memory milestones, and I think we were all touched the day we entered the gates and headed right for the Walt Disney Railroad.   My dad's rule:  You have to ride the railroad first thing, to start your day.  :) Sharing this Happy Place with extended family, merging my fond memories with now watching my own child discover this exciting place, was pretty darn priceless. Baby Meeting Mickey Mouse the 1st Time At the tender at of 12 months, I'm not sure how much of this particular experience my son will … [Read more...]

Magical Blogorail ~ Favorite Character Dining

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Red. Enjoy the ride as we share our favorite restaurants with character dining. Character dining at Disney World (or Disneyland) offers such a great chance to meet some characters and snap those favorite souvenir photos, without having to stand in lines and consume valuable park time.  Some are a bit more chaotic than others.    Most serve a buffet style meal.   But each certainly has their own flair - oftentimes featuring fun and unique, themed costumes. Personally, our favorite character dining experience has been at the infamous Chef Mickey's! Disney World Character Dining ~ Chef Mickey's First, we love it's location - right inside the Contemporary Resort.  This is such a great spot to catch the breakfast buffet, and then ride the monorail to the Magic Kingdom for the day! That's exactly what we did on one rainy January morning, and we all had an awesome time. The food was really good, and the visit to our table of  … [Read more...]

Magical Blogorail ~ Ways to Keep Cool at Disney

Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney Donna Kay and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. Having a rather low tolerance for hot and humid weather, and loving the lower crowds which accompany Disney World's winter season, we really don't have a vast amount of experience with needing to try and keep cool at Disney.  But we've definitely had a few warm days spent at the parks, so here are a few things that worked for my family to keep cool. Let's start with the obvious solution:  jumping onto a water ride!   My family's favorite is Animal Kingdom's Kali River Rapids, since it delivers some exciting splashes while not being "too scary" for the timid rider in our group.   Of course, if you end up being the person in *that seat*... you will be left with soggy bottom syndrome for a fair part of the day.  Interesting note from our behind the scenes DVD:  Disney can (and does) adjust the turbines to control just how high those waves will be, … [Read more...]

Magical Blogorail ~ Favorite Use of Snack Credits

Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney Donna Kay and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail. This month's theme is Favorite Ways to Use Snack Credits, when on the Disney Dining Plan.  Being the tightwad that I am, here is how I select my favorite item to use my snack credit on: Approach and peruse menu for purple snack credit logo. Choose most expensive item available as a snack. The End. Kidding!  (Well, a little bit kidding...) Let's just say when I get desperately thirsty, and use my snack credit for water, I don't just pick "water".  I get SMART water... you know, cause it's worth more $$. Disney Dining Plan Snack Credits I vividly recall planning the first Disney World trip we took as a family, and selecting the dining plan with our package.  One of my concerns was how prevalent the acceptance of our food credits would prove to be?  Turns out that was fear was unfounded, since it's accepted almost everywhere on the … [Read more...]

Magical Blogorail ~ Best Disney Photo Spots

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Red. Enjoy the ride as we share with you our favorite Disney photo spots. I'd be willing to wager that everyone who's ever visited Disney World has a photograph of themselves in front Cinderella's Castle.  Classic, Happiest-Place-On-Earth shot! And you know when you spot a Disney PhotoPass photographer... you've just received a hint as to a good place to have your picture taken. But in addition to that, there are an endless number of great locations to take Disney photos.  I'm nothing even closely resembling a talented photographer, but here are some of my favorite Disney photo spots. Swiss Family Treehouse There are numerous spots along the way in the walk-through Swiss Family Treehouse to stop and take a great picture.  It's such an immersive attraction, plus has the benefit of outside natural light.  You can easily frame your photo nicely, and add a neat backdrop to your shot. Unique Views of the Castle It could … [Read more...]
