Behold Stonewear’s Exciting New Look!

Active wear company Stonewear (formerly Stonewear Designs) based out of Boulder, Colorado, has just released their new Spring line, newly shortened name, and new logo!  The website has been redesigned with a fresh new look, with a user friendly design and  improved product photos. This Spring/Summer 2015 season brings with it a Caribbean-inspired color palette that is flat out gorgeous.   As an Ambassador for Stonewear, I was able to select a few items from this season... and had a terrible time deciding between the lush tropical orange, berry hues, or my favorite - multiple variations of blue and turquoise! There are some brand new fabrics being used this season, including a "mini-stripe" performance technical fabric with the feel of cotton (excited to try that one!).  In addition to the classic favorites, they also have added 8 brand new products:  the Fuse Tank, Vibe Short, Volt Capri, Cassanna Pullover, Compass Capri, Siren Top, Sportee, and Stride Skort. “This website … [Read more...]

Apply to Be an Aventura Ambassador

This past year, you may have heard me talking about Aventura Clothing.  The makers of comfortable styles crafted from eco-friendly fabrics, Aventura has truly become one of my all time favorite womens brands. I love that their style is practical and earthy, and works so well for travel and everyday adventures.  Yet their clothing also has a stylish edge that I can wear and feel both age appropriate and foxy!  :) Here is a peek at some of my favorite pieces from this past year, after serving as an Aventura Ambassador through the Spring/Summer and then Fall/Winter season of 2014. As you can see, these styles are so versatile - I wear my Aventura when going to picnics, at my office for work, volunteering at my daughter's grade school, seeing the circus, DISNEYLAND (Woo Hoo!), and touring the local toffee shop then playing at the park with my preschool son on our wonderful Fridays off … [Read more...]

World Vision & Thirty-One Gifts Join #GivingTuesday With Hope Kits

World Vision and Thirty-One Gifts have partnered in a beautiful campaign to supply "Hope Kits" to women in poverty.  Each Hope Kit has been assembled with care, and is a tote filled with hygiene supplies which will then be donated to a woman or girl in need in the U.S. Poverty in America is real and affects millions of vulnerable women and children every day. The Shriver Report on Women in America, released in January, provides a bleak outlook of the financial state of women and children: 1 in 3 American women -  42 million women, plus 28 million children - either live in poverty or are right on the brink of it. I think this is a heart warming campaign, and love the thought of how each recipient will feel when they receive their lovely, much needed tote of essential items that will no doubt leave them feeling pampered for a nice change. How can you help? Join #GivingTuesday on December 2, 2014 Join World Vision and Thirty-One Gifts in celebrating generosity during the … [Read more...]

Tips for Common Car Problems

Guest post by Joe Wallis. Cars are one of the most important inventions of all time. Our modern world depends on them in a way that most people take completely for granted. Particularly in America, giving up the car is something most people won’t even consider. It’s easy to see why: a car means freedom, and indicates success. For many it’s a hobby as well as a necessity. With cars being so critical to our lives, car problems can bring everything else to a halt in no time. Here are some of the most common car troubles, and what to do in case they hit you. Running out of Gas Let’s start with the real basics. This is a pretty easy one to avoid most of the time, yet it’s surprisingly common. How often have you seen a car on the side of the highway, and the driver trekking off with a gas can? So what do you do? Many insurance providers have roadside assistance available, and can come help. You can also sign up for a specific service, or many times an officer will stop and … [Read more...]

What Every Woman Should Know About #BreastCancerAwareness

During the upcoming month of October, you will hopefully see some buzz about it being the month of Breast Cancer Awareness.  This may come in the form of spotting the pink ribbon which serves as an emblem of sorts, a friend or coworker wearing an inordinate amount of pink, or perhaps in a blog post like this one. Honestly, I typically pay no mind to such things.  But thanks to a timely nudge from Tieks, who has teamed with the American Cancer Society to help promote awareness during October, I realized just how important this informational campaign is and decided to join in. Because 1 in 8 women in the  United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. What? Scary.  BUT... the good news is: When breast cancer is detected early in the localized stage, the 5 year survival rate is over 95%. Ok, now do you see why supporting your pink sisters this month is such a good bandwagon to jump on?   That even though breast self-exams, clinical exams, and … [Read more...]

Letting Go Of Regret

Something happened to me today that I'm still digesting, but it promises to be a heavy weight lifted off my shoulders. After 20 years of regret, someone told me something today that allowed me to let it go. Many moons ago, I was riding a horse on the last stretch towards home, along a paved road. A nearby sprinkler system fired up, sounding eerily like a hissing snake, and spooked my horse. He proceeded to throw me, resulting in my landing flat onto my hip (and elbow) in the middle of the concrete. Ouch. In the ensuing circus, my teenaged riding friend dismounted, captured my bolting horse, and came close enough to me that her now-also-freaked-out horse could take a big, splattering pee on the road, up slope from me. Which then proceeded to trickle downhill towards me. I, of course, couldn't move. Talk about adding insult to injury.  Although it sounds like a semi-comical scene in retrospect, at the time it was a hot mess of pain, chaos, and general unpleasantness. I was in my … [Read more...]
