How to Take Breathtaking Photos With the Panasonic Lumix ZS60

Photography is one of those things that I truly love, that I wish I were better at, and that I wish I had more time to pursue.   Capturing your travels and everyday life adventures helps you savor and relive those memories later on.  And as a blogger, I feel like having beautiful photos can do so much to complement the written word. Sadly, I've had neither the time, nor the budget, to formally "get into" photography. Happily, there's the new Panasonic Lumix ZS60! After receiving one of these amazing little point-and-shoot cameras at my recent TravelingMoms Disney Retreat, I've had the opportunity to try it out in a few settings.  I'm blown away by the breathtaking photos this little camera takes. Impressive Features of the Panasonic Lumix ZS60 Just released this March 2016, the new Panasonic Lumix ZS60 is a powerful little camera.  All in a compact, easy to take with you device, you get features like: 30x Ultra-zoom 4K Ultra HD video recording, you'll never miss … [Read more...]

Disney Wordless Wednesday ~ Characters at Mickey’s Toontown Fair

Welcome to Disney Wordless Wednesday!  This week's theme: Character Encounters A few short years ago, we took our first Disney World trip together as a young family.  This was a time when Mickey's Toontown Fair was still open, and the Walt Disney World Railroad featured a stop in this area. Characters at Mickey's Toontown Fair As we pulled into the Toontown Fair station, we were very excited to see an entire group of characters ready and waiting to greet us, at an area just off to the side (literally, no lines... I believe they had just been brought out). Still new to the Disney trip scene, none of us realized how rare the situation being presented actually was - from the large number of characters, to the very few people in the area, to the unique characters we saw that day. Being totally drawn to her, and there being no other fans around... my daughter ran back up to Marie 3 different times!   We've never had a "Character Encounter" quite like it - before or since.  It … [Read more...]

Disney Wordless Wednesday ~ Surf Boards!

This week's theme:  Your December Calendar Shot *o*     *o*     *o* As we head into the first real month of winter, I'm gonna need a dose of Disney Summertime fun on my calendar. Ok, so this was from our January visit to Disney's Pop Century Resort.  That's the beauty of it... a tiny dose of "summer" for us, in the middle of our winter!  (Note from the fleece that it was not quite swimsuit weather, but that didn't dampen our fun. Downright balmy to us!) Now on to my favorite Disney Resort.  The lush, tropical theming and overall environment of the Polynesian is probably why it's my favorite.  Nothin' says vacation to a Midwest/Western gal like me more than palm trees, white sand, Ukelele music, and a Pina Colada...  (Not necessarily in that order.) I would totally take surfing lessons from Stitch... wouldn't you? *o*     *o*     *o* Thanks to Deb at  Focused on the Magic for this fun weekly Disney photo hop.  Click the button below to check out more great blogs and … [Read more...]

Disney Wordless Wednesday – Transported by Architecture

This week's theme:  Disney Architecture *o*     *o*     *o* One of the things I love most about vacationing at Disney, is that if you throw in a whimsical spirit and a little imagination - it truly transports you to other worlds.   The authentic, creative and detailed architecture plays a huge role in doing so. A few of my favorites...   Here I am!  A island dwelling girl living a simple life, eating fresh pineapple and mango daily as I walk along the white sandy shores, taking in the ocean views....   Ahhh... Italia!  Now I'm strolling through a piazza in my Italian leather shoes, multi purpose scarf, and subtlety superior-in-style European garb.  I smile as the Tuscan sun shines on my neck, and I observe the tourists with amusement.   Then I head a few narrow streets down, off the beaten path to my favorite cafe where I'll pay only 3 Euro for my espresso, instead of 10...   Now for a tad racier adventure!  The smell of spices wafting … [Read more...]

Toddlers First Disney Character Greeting

The month my son turned one, we took a family trip to Disney World.  The first time you get to take your child to Disney is special for many reasons.  Meeting so many beloved Disney characters for the first time is, of course, a highlight! If your child is young, or timid, here's a few tips you can follow to help make it a carefree and happy experience for them. Toddlers First Disney Character Greeting Tips Even at a young age, toddlers often recognize the live Disney characters found in the parks, just from the shows they have watched.  So be sure to watch some of your Disney movie favorites before your trip!  It will keep the characters fresh in their mind, and hopefully help them warm up more readily when they spot them in the Parks. I had my son in Disney Jr Mickey Mouse Clubhouse boot camp for a few weeks prior to our trip.  I think it paid off nicely. When the big moment arrives - ease in slowly, and don't pressure them to be held or get close to the character once … [Read more...]

Disney Wordless Wednesday ~ The Outpost in EPCOT

This week's Disney Wordless Wednesday theme is:  Brought to You by the Disney Letter "D" *o*     *o*     *o* One rainy day in EPCOT, we rented a stroller for our weary 5 year old and decided to take a more relaxed pace, and just "experience" a bit. If you work your way around EPCOT's World Showcase by heading left (clockwise), you'll pass by a rather large, country-less gap - between China and Germany.  This area is known as The Outpost.  It was originally intended to be a place holder for a future, multiple country representation called Equatorial Africa. Hence, brought to you by the Disney Letter "D" - it's drums!  On that particular rainy day ... this was a definite highlight for my daughter. Ok, and for my husband.  (He's Got The Beat...) Ok, and for me.  It was pretty fun. The Outback includes this fun, play-it-yourself African Drum area for young and old alike to enjoy.  But you will also find a nice seating area, a refreshment stand, and a few souvenir shops offering … [Read more...]

Disney Wordless Wednesday ~ “Celebrate” Parade

This week's Disney theme:  It's a Parade! *o*     *o*     *o* In my modern day Disney obsessed history, the "What Will You Celebrate?" marketing theme of 2009 has remained my favorite. Although it's undergone a few changes here and there, the "Celebrate a Dream Come True" parade is still alive and kicking ... and is an awesome site to behold!   The accompanying song is probably both my daughter and I's favorite Disney parade music of all time.   It's all about celebrating and dreams at Disney! *o*     *o*     *o* Check out the other great Disney photos on this week's hop by clicking the button below.   … [Read more...]
