Why You’ll Love Dromedaris Kara Boot

Mid-height boots are hugely popular, but finding just the right pair can be a challenge.  Comfort is at the top of my list, followed by my penchant for rich looking leather. I'd heard great things about Dromedaris, known for their high quality leather boots made in Portugal.  The pair I happily chose to review is one of their original, most famous styles:  the Dromedaris Kara Boot. Dromedaris ~ Creative & Comfortable If you are unfamiliar with them, Dromedaris is a premium leather boot, shoe, and sandal maker. Dromedaris features such creative and funky styles, prints, and colors that if you'd planned on buying a neutral pair (which they do offer)... you're going to have a hard time sticking to your guns.  Whimsy is the order of the day with many of their new patterns including embroidered flowers and denim patches with lace overlays.   Their 3D Technology results in a soft cushioned insole, and serves as the foundation of their women’s collections.  This … [Read more...]

High Sierra Introduces Great Outdoor Apparel

High Sierra has been making outdoor gear and backpacks for some time now, and has built a reputation of quality at a value.  This Spring they've branched out, and they are now offering some great outdoor clothing.  This is an exciting development, as these thoughtfully designed pieces are being sold at reasonable price points.  And from what I've seen, they aren't skimping on quality in the process. The Spring line from High Sierra introduced some awesome new pieces, a couple of which my daughter and I have been trying out these past few weeks.  The items we sampled were made from fantastic fabric, with solid construction and a well designed fit. High Sierra Women's Lizze Pullover The  High Sierra Women's Lizze Pullover is to die for.  The fit is spot on, and true to size.  The Lizze envelopes you in a sleek, smooth exterior.  Inside it cuddles you with a fuzzy, cozy interior.  Made from space-dyed stretch fleece, this thick soft fabric is very warm yet it breathes and dries … [Read more...]

5 Things I Can’t Run Without

There's a formula.  The gear and circumstances I can queue up for myself, to make sure I actually take that run.  Because as much as I've been enjoying training for the runDisney Princess Half Marathon, there are days when I really don't want to go running. Granted I'm a beginning runner, still in the early stages of training.  I'm averaging 2.5 miles, three times per week.  I use Jeff Galloway's genius run-walk-run method, and I swear it's saving me a great deal of pain.  (Love you, Jeff!)  I've also been experimenting with various gear and items to support my running.  Thus far, I've identified these 5 things I can't run without! Note, some of the items below were sent to me as samples to test out.  Some of them I purchased myself.  All are truly great running gear, and are items I feel I can't live without. 1.  Tiny, Rockin' Music Player I have music on my phone, and music on my iPod Nano.  However, neither of these have *exclusively* running music on them.  This left me … [Read more...]

Nutcase Helmets ~ “I Love My Brain”

In the past I had read good things about Nutcase Helmets, including their slick and easy "magnet closing" clasp.  Peruse the website and you'll quickly detect a creative and funky vibe, via their atypical and fun helmet designs.  And last but not least, because we concur with their motto.... "I love my brain"... we were quick to jump on board with a gear review! Nutcase Helmets for Kids Nutcase has a great line for the wee ones called Little Nutty.  I absolute adore some of their styles in this line.  But be sure to check their sizing guidelines. My just-turned-5 year old son was outside the top measurement for Little Nutty, and got bumped up to the regular, full sized biking Nutcase Helmets.    (Which was too bad, cause just look at that adorable dinosaur one!  Oh well... he has a big head for his BIG BRAIN.  We've come to terms with it.) In our experience as parents of kids who love all-things-wheeled... there are two crucial elements to getting them to wear a protective … [Read more...]

Now that my young son is hiking on his own two feet, it was time for me to scout out a new women's backpack.  The Kelty Women's Redwing 40 is a much loved, classic pack - and with good reason. Kelty has made varying sizes of the basic Redwing for years now.  There are Redwing styles for both men and women, with or without an internal frame, ranging in size from smaller day packs to full backpacking capacity. Haiku Bucket Bag ~ Outdoorsy Meets Chic

If you are new to Haiku bags, you are in for a treat.  This is one of those discoveries which will quickly work its way into your heart.  Outdoorsy truly meets chic in the Haiku Bucket Bag. Since the onset of motherhood, and as part of our fairly active Colorado lifestyle, I bring quite a few practical items along with me when I leave home.  Ok, sometimes I use a backpack. So I'm just not a small, shiny, "Glam" purse kinda gal (those never look right with my trail shoes?)  Haiku bags have caught my eye on more than one occasion, offering a fantastic option which combines practical with exceptionally artsy and chic. But don't be fooled by me describing them as "outdoorsy", or a great travel bag (which they also are).  Haiku bags are not plain utilitarian styles, made of boring backpack-type fabric.  You'll instantly notice their winning combination of interesting and practical designs, along with fun patterns and colors which make them stand out from the crowd. I was very … [Read more...]
