Acorn Makes the Ultimate Slippers

Acorn slippers come in a variety of styles and materials, but all have this in common:  comfort, quality, and longevity.  As far as I’m concerned, they win for Best In Show and are pretty much the ultimate slipper.   When I get a chance to review a product that I already own and have loved for years, it makes my job pretty easy.

I chose these Acorn Snowline Mule Slippers for my review, since to me they have a classic Acorn styling and look to them.   And also cause they’ve got that cool Colorado mountain winters-by-the-fire vibe to them.  Ok, and also because my sister-in-law had a pair of Acorns similar to this and I was always jealous of them.

It’s a tough decision whether to go with a slipper boot style, or a slip on mule style.  At times, I think my chilly ankles long for a little more swaddling comfort than a mule provides.  But for every day around the house, easy to slip on, and not-get-too-hot style slippers – I found it was nice having this mule style.

I must tell you, however… that my heart still belongs to this bootie sheepskin style I’ve had now for a few years.  To each his own.  You’ll find that any Acorn style will include their great core features.

Acorn Slipper Features

• Sole Cushioning – What initially got me hooked on Acorn was the first time I slipped on a pair in the department store.  They are known for the cushioning in the sole, which adds extreme comfort and makes them really, really hard to take off!

I feel extra-equipped for this review, since I can tell you that in addition to the lovely new pair of Acorns I reviewed for this post, I’ve also owned a pair of Acorn sheepskin slippers (similar to Oh Ewe II, shown above) for 3 years.  On that pair, there is still noticeable sole cushioning left.  That’s great quality, in my opinion.

• Indoor/Outdoor Sole – This is another great thing about Acorn slippers.  Described as “indoor/outdoor”, they feature a sole that is engineered with the perfect amount of durability, while still being soft and pliable.  Meaning you can run out to the mailbox on those snowy, lazy Saturday mornings without getting your slippers all wet.    Or (what occurs more commonly around my house) finding yourself in a toddler bathtime water-war zone, and not having to get your slipper bottoms soaked on the dripping tile floor.

Yet the sole is still flexible, soft and very comfy for indoor use.  They are quite different from the stiff feel of other hard sole/outdoor use style slippers I have owned.

Acorn Slipper & Shoe Styles

Whether your sense of style leans toward a pair of Nordic print moccasins, boiled wool with beautiful embroidery, funky fleece slip-ons, or traditional sheepskin booties… you’ll easily find an Acorn slipper that you love.

(But then you’re going to have to choose a color, which I’ll warn you, won’t be easy.)

I’m a big sheepskin slipper fan, but I’ve never EVER seen a sheepskin slipper that comes in a choice of seven colors!  They also feature different heights and styles of sheepskin, including this cute Moxie Boot slipper.

When my husband gave me my pair of Acorn sheepskin slippers, they were one of the best presents I’ve ever received.  I love them dearly, and can tell you that after 3 years of cool-months seasonal use (about a 5-6 month stretch each time)… they are still in great shape.  The soles are still in tact, and are just now starting to show a bit of minor wear along the edges.  My last (non-Acorn) pair of sheepskin slippers wore a whole completely through the bottom leather material in about that same period of time.

Acorn also offers shoes, such as the ones shown here – made of Italian wool-blend uppers with water-repellent suede detail.  The footbed is a contoured, removable EVA insole with arch support and they are lined with Thermolite synthetic down for warmth.

Whether you are pampering yourself with something you’ll get daily enjoyment from, or looking for a special gift to give someone that they are guaranteed to love – Acorn products are an excellent choice.

You can find Acorn slippers, shoes and socks in many retail locations or online.   I am a strong advocate for them because I was a fan long before I performed this review.  In my experience of owning a 3 year old pair that’s still in good shape and going strong – their slippers are solid quality.
