Cushe®, (pronounced ‘Cushy’) is a relatively young shoe making company based out of the UK.    They love detail, and pride themselves on making unique and special styles of footwear.

I particularly like their use of innovative materials, to help make Cushe shoes conform to your foot’s natural shape, ensuring comfort, protection and stability.

Cushe Footwear Collections

Cushe has both men and women styles available, and on their site (and in numerous retail stores) you’ll find boots, shoes, and sandals.   I get a kick out of their style groupings into three collections…

  • Urban Safari:   Everyday essentials for you city dwellers, or just pavement-pounding visitors
  • Universal Traveler:  Robust & protective, preparing you for adventures all over the globe
  • Coastal Supremacy:  With quick drying properties, for those lucky enough to find themselves near sand-n-surf

That about covers us all, doesn’t it?  Nice job, Cushe.

Cushe Quilty Conscience Boots

For my introduction to Cushe, I chose the Quilty Conscience Boots.   This style features Cushe’s “NICE’N TOASTY” thermal technology, and appealed to me with the versatility of its practicality as a cold weather boot combined with an attractive style.

The Quilty Conscience boot is indeed very warm, and is made from Wolverine performance waterproof suede and felt textile.   They are lined with thermal fleece, making them soft and cozy.  And the sole is made of a moulded rubber with a unique “Cushe Futon” tread design.

Cushe Footwear Sizing

A quick note on sizing.  The boots I tried don’t come in half sizes, which is always a dilemma for me.

I wear a 9 or 9 1/2, and I went with a size 9.  They are snug, but not uncomfortable, and because of the nice way they are made – I’ve already noticed them molding to my foot shape in the one week I have worn them.  If you like to wear thick socks and are a half size – I’d recommend sizing up.

Cushe Quilty Conscience Boots – Performance

Cushe Boots for Sledding Day
Cushe Quilty Conscience boots go sledding for the day

While this was probably not a typical use of these boots, I wore my Cushe Quilty Conscience boots sledding, in very deep snow, for nearly 2 hours.  I’d say that was a fairly extreme test of just how warm and waterproof they truly are.

I was wearing thin socks, and even though it was a warm, sunny 32 degree day… my feet were embedded in snow most of that time.  I found the boots to be very warm.  The tread was sufficient to get me back up the slippery sliding hill numerous times.

Cushe Boots in Snow

After 2 hours, when we got back to the car, I did notice very mild dampness inside my boot about 2 inches above my ankle.  I noticed this was about the location of where the suede section of the boot turns into the cute quilt material which runs up the back of the boot.

Again, this was due to stomping around in deep snow – not a typical use of these boots.  And that super cute quilting design is well worth this tiny affect on the waterproof aspect, in my opinion!  They also dried EXTREMELY quickly – I noticed even the exterior of the suede on the toes was completely dry 1/2 hour after going indoors.

Cushe Quilty Conscience Boots – Design Details

Cushe Quilty Conscience Boots DetailsThe two tone coloring is striking and attractive, and I’ve received compliments every single time I’ve worn these boots.  The quilting material peeking above the boot top edge is creative and fun, and delivers the same effect as wearing perfectly matched and aligned boot socks with your boots – without all the hassle.

Cushe Quilty Conscience Boots DetailsThe details are a delight, adding interest and style to the practicality of these fantastic boots.  And there’s one last thing I absolutely adore about the Cushe Quilty Conscience boot.

I love multi purpose footwear that leaves you prepared for anything, and when they are also stylish and cute – it’s an exciting bonus.

You can wear these boots as effective outdoor gear, keeping your feet warm and dry during hard core cold weather play.   Or you can wear them for a stylish and comfortable look everyday, for anything from picking up the kids from school to date night with your husband!
