Disney World – Akershus Princess Lunch
This week’s theme: Disney Royal Ladies!
*o* *o* *o*
Taken on our first trip as a family (daughter just turned 4), first character meal ever, and first Disney Princess Experience – the Akershus Princess Lunch at EPCOT’s Norway. It was a wonderful cluster of firsts!
An Aurora nightgown was her princess attire for the trip. Less scratchy! Not unlike her mom, she’s all about comfort…
And I guess this was my version of dressing like Cinderella. We kinda match. She’s the blonde.

Those are some pretty Disney Princesses! It looks like a great time together! Do you have a favorite Disney Princess?

Awww… and you are so charming! 🙂
What a great question! You know, Rapunzel’s personality really stole my heart… but historically – I think Belle, the brave bookworm, has always been my favorite.
Thanks for swinging by, John!

Great photos – That first princess character meal is always so much fun! I never would have guessed that your daughter’s lovely dress was a nightgown – she matches Aurora’s dress perfectly and she’s as pretty as a princess. You look great too!

Thanks, Lisa 🙂
She figured that nightgown trick out in a hurry. We had brought come costume type gowns along with us on the plane – but nothin’ doin’ once she got the PJ version!

I wish I had a picture of one of my grandtwins (2 years old during his last WDW visit) flirting with the princesses. 🙂
Nice shots!

Me, too! Mini-Prince Charmings take the cake. You’ll have to snag that shot next time and be sure to share, grandpa!

I think the comfy nightgown is a wonderful idea! And she looks so adorable, too!

Thanks, Kathy!
You can’t quite see them, but there are “Princess Pink Nike Water Sandals” under the gown, that goes along with perfectly it. ;-D

LOVE it! 🙂 We have never done the princess lunch or dinner – how was the food?

You know, it was different and interesting – not typical American Fare. I remember finding the salad bar unusual (think cold cuts and lutefisk!)
Overall, it was good, but not our favorite meal of the trip. DEFINITELY worth it, though!

Aw so cute! I love the idea of the nightgown–much more comfortable–wish I could get away with it;) Thanks for sharing and for linking up!

Me, too … wouldn’t that be great? Maybe if enough of us grown up princesses pull it off together, it could work. BBB could start carrying a line in our size …
And thanks – it’s pretty exciting to be joining the infamous Magical Blogorail! YAAAY!

My daughter can’t do those scratchy gowns either. Not all day at a theme park anyhow. The night gown is a great idea! Just as pretty, but better!!

Yes, i don’t blame them either. When you’re at Disney, it’s all about doing whatever you want, right?? 🙂

Awe… we still haven’t done the Akershus princess dining yet. One thing I love about Disney is that there is no way you can do it all in one vacation. Leaves us something to look forward to next time.
Oh…. My daughter found a very soft, and voluminous, pink tutu at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. It is her go-to-tutu, for all princess-themed events.

LOL … “go-to-tutu” is totally going to be my phrase of the day. (Let’s see now, where can I work that in??)
I agree about Disney, Mel. Sometimes I feel out of my league with all of you Disney experts – but that’s the beauty of it. Everyone’s experiences are different, and there’s ALWAYS something new to be discovered! Love it.

LOL! How funny. (She’s the blonde.) I never would’ve thought about letting my daughter wear her princess gown to meet the princesses. GENIUS!

Ok, I love that I was JUST checking out your lovely princesses by Cinderella’s fountain, at the very moment you were here leaving this comment …
Thanks, my new Disney & Blogorail friend!!

Funny! Since i only have boys, I always wondered how little (and big) girls put up with the taffeta and lace. The secret’s out!!

May 16, 2012 at 5:03 pm
Yep … I marvel at the little ones that can take it, but apparently we spend too much time in lounging pants around our house to switch gears to anything less comfortable on vacation. 🙂 And why would you??

The PJ dress is genius. I’m going looking for some PJ’s that look like work clothes for the rest of the week.
And thanks for pointing out which one of you was Cinderella. Made me laugh.

Now you’re taking it to a whole new level. THAT’s genius! I may have to go shopping at lunch…
You’ll probably be better off scoring some top and bottom PJs, though. The gown may turn too many heads, and get you in trouble.

What great shots! The character meals are nice as you don’t have to stand in line and the characters come right to you :).

Exactly. Although not the most relaxing of dining experiences, we do love them – it’s a definite trade-off!

Thanks! There’s safety in numbers, and I’m picking up some vibes here that there may be a good sized group of us grown ups willing to try that out during a future park visit … let me know if you want in.

Great shot and the post made me chuckle! 😀 Looks like you had a great time… I had a not great experience at Akershus but I think it was probably an off day as everyone raves about it… I’ll have to try it again some time! 🙂

The food was definitely different – sorry to hear that!
A lot of times the character dining seems to be mostly about the character experience … 🙂

It was her idea, I can’t take credit. She wore summer clothes underneath – it worked pretty slick. Except that she’s kinda wearing the same thing in ALL our vacation photos – LOL. (Doesn’t help differentiate day/memories any…)

Wooo Hooo! Glad you like this idea, it has worked wonderfully for us. They actually sell really pretty ones right at the park gift shops, too, for less than half the price of the gowns (around $30, vs $60+).
Have an awesome Disney trip!! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
