Firmoo – Free Pair of Glasses Offer & Review

Firmoo is a popular online eyeglasses store, offering mail order of prescription glasses at drastically reduced prices.

Spending nearly a lifetime as a contact lens and glasses wearer, time and again I  have forked over hundreds of dollars for a pair of glasses, always conservatively ordering them from an optometrists office.  I confess, I was somewhat skeptical of the concept of ordering cheap glasses from an online store.

I’m happy to report that using Firmoo was a surprisingly positive experience, and I wanted to share the scoop with you in case you’ve wondered about this option yourself.

Even better, for all new customers they offer your first pair of glasses for FREE!  You pay a minimal price for shipping and handling.  But this is a fantastic option to try them out for yourself.

Here’s a little about my experience with using Firmoo.

I shop online frequently, and between that and being a programmer myself – I’m pretty picky about how shopping websites function and are laid out.  Firmoo has done an excellent job with their site.  It is helpful and easy to use.

The robustness of their website is what makes ordering glasses from a website actually viable.  This is a necessity, if you are being expected to order prescription eyeglasses without the assistance of an office staff or ability to try the frames on in person.

One thing that I loved was the option of trying the glasses on virtually.  You first upload a picture of your own face.  Note that if you do this via the “log into Facebook” option, it will store the image for you for repeated visits to the site.

Once you have your picture uploaded, it takes one click on the Virtual Try On button to see a picture of yourself in the selected frame – it’s located on each frame description.  This is fun and easy, and a quick helpful way to browse through the available styles – trying them on yourself to see how the various shapes and colors look on you.

It’s obviously not exactly the same as being able to try on frames in person, and look in a mirror.  But it is still a fairly effective method of selecting your frames.  You just have to ask yourself if the cost savings is worth it to you.  For me, it is.  You can even post your virtual picture in a frame to Facebook, and have your friends tell you which they like.

As you shop, add any frames you like to Favorites, and it will keep track of them for you.  A handy option when browsing so many cute frames.

Also pay close attention to the Dimensions listed for each frame.  These are clearly described and easy to understand, and may give you a better reference of what size the glasses will be.  I measured my current eyeglasses, and realized a few of the Firmoo frames I thought were cute would be way, way larger than the ones I currently have (not a good idea for me, as I need a high index lens).

From what I saw, prices range from about $8 to $42.  And that price includes the lens.  Can you believe that?   Crazy cheap!

You will need your prescription from your eye doctor.  Firmoo has even posted three samples of what your written prescription will likely look like, and how to interpret it.  They walk you through how to complete that information on your order.

I received my glasses about 1 ½-2 weeks after ordering them.  Very speedy service.  They also came with a nice quality glasses case, cleaning cloth, two extra screws, and a screwdriver tool.

Unfortunately, new glasses often need to be adjusted to fit you just right.  And you are on your own for this.  Mine were a little crooked (not the glasses … it’s because of my crooked ears, apparently!).  I will need to stop by an optometrist shop somewhere and have them adjusted.  However, it’s common for them to receive these type of requests for adjustments, and I don’t think it’s a big deal.

 Firmoo – My Review Summary

Overall, I recommend using Firmoo.  It will save you a great deal of money, and I feel confident you will be pleased with the results.

I intend to use them again in the future, as a paying customer.  It’s worth it to me to save literally hundreds of dollars.  Having this option will allow me to update my glasses more frequently than I used to.
