Magical Blogorail: Disney Smells We Love (or Loathe)
Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney Donna Kay and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail.
Our last trip to Disney World was in September. During this delightful-as-always vacation, we also got to experience the hottest, muggiest weather of any of our Disney trips thus far! Hence, we found ourselves constantly on the lookout for cool down breaks and options.
One morning at Epcot, this situation collided with the amazing smell of waffle cones being hand-made wafting through the air. It stopped us in our tracks!
Epcot’s Fountain View Ice Cream shop is worth the stop. Here waffle cones (or bowls) are made fresh on an iron, then hand-dipped and made ready to hold your yummy Edy’s ice cream.
They’ve got other unique and tempting options, like the handmade ice cream sandwich, made with two chocolate chip cookies. But after smelling the waffle cones, we were hooked. The ordering decision had been made for us, if you will.
I admit that when we’re are on a precious Disney vacation, I hate to “waste time”. After planning and daydreaming for months, I typically have quite a full agenda in mind for my young family. Sitting down for 45 minutes and eating an ice cream cone would usually cause me to fret.
But this is a truly enjoyable experience, and as earlier mentioned – the heat pushed me over the edge enough to just sit back and enjoy it. And because the outside deck seating is found right next to the delightful Epcot Fountain, you can sit back and be entertained by a water show while you enjoy your snack.
This is now on my list of fun Disney moments that are officially worth the time!
And to think, it was all discovered thanks to the smell of waffle cones in the air …

Wow, you are right about the waffle cones. I love that smell (and I love waffle cone sundaes we get at home). It is very distinctive and does draw you closer. Great catch.
