Nomadik Subscription Box Inspires Adventure

Perhaps like me, you’ve been curious about a subscription box service.  You pick your passion, for just about anything under the sun… fashion, dogs, Disney Princesses, or even outdoor adventuring.  Then you find a cool subscription service that will send you a box of related goodies each month.  How fun is that?

Well, if you’re an outdoor enthusiast and a subscription box for adventure sounds good to you, read on for my Nomadik Box review.  With a monthly theme and outdoor challenge, this may be just the inspiration you’ve been looking for.

Nomadik Inspires Adventure

One peek at the aesthetically appealing Nomadik website, and it starts convince you why this subscription box concept works.  The premise, in my opinion, is that sometimes we get too busy to do what we love.  And if we are occasionally reminded or nudged with some nifty new gear or outdoor toys, we are more like to go outside and play.

Or maybe you already get regular outdoor time in, and just love being inspired or introduced to new things you could use during your adventures.

Either way, based on the sample box I received I can see why a Nomadik subscription would be a fun and inspiring pursuit.  I think the price is very do-able.  Not only are your scoring some new gear, but you are being introduced to gear you may not normally even know about.

Here’s what I thought about the gear in my Nomadik box.

Nomadik Box Review

I’ll admit, at first when I opened my January 2019 Nomadik box… it didn’t seem like much.  I Googled the things I received for my Nomadik box review, to learn more about each of them.  They do send you a nifty guide on the items included for the month, along with a monthly outdoor challenge.  But honestly… I was mostly curious about the retail value of each.

The claim is this:

“Each month, we deliver themed boxes packed with innovative gear… for a fraction of the price.  Up to $70 in retail value.”

The price for one box (depending on how long you subscribe for) is around $30.

The monthly theme for my box was “The Minimalist”.  So what did my box include?

• $12.99     Wilderness Survival Card 2.0, from Readyman (My favorite part is the fishing hooks.)
• $.99         911 Request Card, from Rats Medical
• $39.96     Emergency Blanket, from 1Tac.com (On sale / currently out of stock… but I’m giving them credit for full original value)
• $39.95      Tactica MultiTool

In other words, tiny stuff.  That are a good idea to have on hand when you’re in The Wild.

Am I clever and/or handy enough to use a compact and efficient $39.95 “Multitool”?  Probably not.  But that doesn’t meant I don’t think it’s smart, will add it to my hiking backpack, and it MIGHT SAVE MY LIFE ONE DAY!!  Eh? Eh….??

So how did Nomadik do?

Gear in my January 2019 Nomadik Subscription Box:   $93.89 Total Retail Value

For a $30 monthly box fee.  Not too shabby.

Plus the intangible value of discovering new gear for use and preparedness on your outdoor adventures.  I think that’s cool.  And due to their safety nature, and minimalist size… every one of these items will be something I now carry in my outdoor adventure day pack.

Customize and Skip Any Month

When you sign up for a Nomadik subscription, you are allowed to subscribe for 1 month, 6 months, or 12 months.  They have you build a profile, where you specify your interests and outdoor pursuits.

If you never kayak, you probably don’t want kayaking related gear sent to you.  With only a 1 month trial under my belt, I’m not sure how fine grained “curated to tastes” the boxes truly are.  In reading online reviews on Nomadik… it pretty much sounded like everyone received the exact same box that I did.

But at any rate, they say you are allowed to skip any month if the gear doesn’t trip your trigger.  I couldn’t see where on their website you can review the upcoming month’s box, but they is maybe an email that subscribers receive.

You can cancel any time.  Also, you can get excited when your Nomadik box comes… and start planning your next outdoor adventure to go test your cool gear.
