Storing Your Outdoor Equipment ~ the Challenge… and Solution
The following article was sponsored by Guardian Storage.
Been eyeballing that kayak or SUP board every time you go to REI, but walk away sadly shaking your head when you realize that’s not gonna fit in your garage? Not to mention the four-seasons worth of outdoor equipment you’ve already got at home. You need help with storing all that fun gear, and I have a cool idea on how to fix that problem. Read on for a cool outdoor storage idea.
Outdoor Gear Storage
We live in an area of Colorado that builds homes with no basements. The struggle is real, people.
I’ve slowly adapted to this shortage of storage. But my family loves to play outside a lot, and the gear that allows us to do so is bulky. This challenge gets more and more painful, as our garage slowly gets fuller and fuller.
On one high shelf, we’ve got a gigantic box with four pairs of snowshoes. The poor neglected snow skis have been relegated to the scary recesses of our small storage shed, in our backyard. Two sets of dusty golf clubs are propped up in the corner. Then we’ve got a lovely assortment bicycles, and even a gigantic bike trailer – in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
Any of this sounding familiar…?
Camping Gear Galore
Don’t even get me started on the amount of camping gear we’ve accumulated over the years. The irony being, we now own a camper. And I think I can safely say that my husband will never again be caught dead sleeping in a tent. And yet, we hang on to our 12 bulky sleeping bags.
Do we have 12 members in our family? Nope.
Can a person actually SLEEP in more than one sleeping bag at a time? Not really.
Am I going to get rid of any of my 12 sleeping bags (which I’m individually, personally attached to) any time soon? No. No I am not.
Add to the taking-up-space tally 4 tents, 5 coolers, 4 lanterns, and 6 inflatable mattresses.
Where to store it all?? And I don’t think we’re alone in this particular challenge, as many people are avid campers and outdoorsmen.
Is Space Prohibiting Your New Hobby…?
The scenario I mentioned in the opening paragraph is one I personally experience. Every time I enter a store that sells kayaks or SUPs.
“Man, I would love to try that! It looks SO FUN! It’s not even that expensive! But where in the world would I store it…??”
It’s a drag that my small, cluttered garage is now dictating which outdoor recreational hobbies I can pursue.
We’d LOVE to have some outdoor storage for our gear.
