Take Camping Indoors with Great Wolf Lodge “Camp-In” This Summer
How does a nightly campfire…. then sleeping in a comfortable resort room sound? This summer at Great Wolf Lodge they are celebrating family camping traditions with a Summer Camp-In Celebration! Special themed tee-pee rooms, nightly S’mores roasting, campfire singalongs, and extra kids activities like the “Trailblazer Challenge” will all be part of the fun.
This special promotion will run from May to September, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. It’s such an amazing fit with the already wilderness themed resorts, and eliminates any concern over weather, when planning a fun family vacation this summer.
Great Wolf Lodge Summer Camp-In
My family got a taste of the Summer Camp-In celebration in early May at the Colorado Springs location, and found it combined two of our favorite things: camping and Great Wolf Lodge.
I’ve only had a chance to visit the Colorado Springs Great Wolf Lodge resort (there are currently 18 locations, and one under construction near Scottsdale, AZ that I’m excited about!) We are pretty proud of our Rocky Mountains here, and I have to say this Colorado Springs resort has a breathtaking view to go along with your nightly marshmallow roast.
I’ve written in the past about the tons of activities and food at Great Wolf Lodge, from previous visits here. In addition to the famous indoor water park that’s included with your stay, they also feature numerous “dry-play” activities that my kids love like mini-golf, a kid sized bowling alley, and a high ropes course.
Purchasing a “Paw Pass” is a good way to bundle these extra activities and save some money. Check out my inside peek at Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs post for more details on that, plus the on-site restaurant selection.
But here’s more on the special inclusions of the Summer Camp-In program, this summer only!
Themed Camp Suite Rooms
At each Great Wolf Lodge location, a few special Camp Suite rooms will be themed for the Summer Camp-In promotion.
I toured a sample to check out the special touches and décor. What an exciting treat for kiddos. And if I fit in that cushioned teepee… I would TOTALLY SLEEP IN IT! Also check out that mini campfire light, for sitting around during bedtime stories. Adorable.
I really love the outdoorsy vibe they’ve built into these themed camp suites! If past promotions are an indicator, these rooms will book fast.
Nightly Campfire & Marshmallow Roast
You can’t “camp” without a campfire, right? For the Summer Camp-In, Great Wolf Lodge has you covered, and I think this is my favorite part. There are three large fire pits outside the lodge, where nightly a s’mores party will be held to complete your experience.
This is one of the moments during our preview weekend where our kids (ages 8 and 14) had the absolute most fun. They played on the patio with the other kids around the campfire until dark. It really is a lovely way to enjoy some outdoor time, but then move inside to a beautiful and comfortable lodge for the night.
I’d say this takes Glamping to the next level.
BBQ Delights
But wait, we’re not done with camping food yet. You won’t have to grill that tasty BBQ yourself. This summer, BBQ and other summer favorites will be featured right in the resort’s main restaurant.
For any new to Great Wolf Lodge food… it’s excellent. Definitely not what you’d expect from typical “we have you trapped here” park food, from the organic ketchup to the hand-made chicken fingers. They’ve invested a great deal in addressing food allergies and health concerns, with their corporate head chef coordinating many of the master ingredients and menus used across all resorts.
When we visit at Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs, we eat there the entire stay. They have an excellent variety of options to choose from, and it’s typically really good food. Don’t miss the sweet potato fries at the quick service “Buckets” near the indoor waterpark.
Weatherproof Summer Camp at Great Wolf Lodge
The lodges themselves will be decked out for summer camp, from a “Welcome Campers!” banner at the entrance to pennants hanging from lobby ceilings. The resort staff will don camp counselor gear, and have extra kids activities on tap.
My kids enjoyed the hands-on Trailblazer Activities, many of which were DIY and craft creation projects. They even got to decorate their own rubber duck, for the Rubber Duck Races down the waterslide one morning. Also, special pool parties and character breakfasts will also be part of the additional fun.
Summer Camp-In at Great Wolf Lodge provides a true weatherproof summer getaway for families. Because events scheduled outdoors can easily be moved inside the indoor waterpark or the spacious Grand Lobby if any inclement weather conditions move in.
