Tinker Bell’s Makeup ~ Your Turn to Glisten Like a Fairy
She’s spunky, energetic, and always has a glow about her… what would you think of a makeup line that captures the essence of Tinker Bell for you?
(Who wouldn’t love looking a little more like Tink?)
High end cosmetic company Pixi Beauty was founded over 10 years ago by makeup artist Petra Strand. I have fallen in love with the PixiGlow Disney line they now carry, as well as several of their other products and overall motto: “Makeup to Wakeup”!
As a very busy mom, anything that can quickly and easily help keep my face looking fresh, natural, and well rested is a welcome addition.
And although it’s primarily a makeup line (vs. skin care), they include skin nourishing ingredients in all of their products. So your makeup performs double duty.
Petra’s Philosophy: Bring Out Your Natural Inner Glow
Pixi’s Signature Look is actually very light and natural – my favorite way to wear makeup.
Check their website for a number of great video clips, featuring ideas such as a quick touch up, a “Fake Awake” pick me up, and many other helpful how-to’s. Many of the individual products feature short video clips on how to apply.
Watch this clip if you interested to hear how growing up in Sweden, loving the folklore of fairies, the beautiful light in the forest, and “naturalness” has inspired her Pixi creations.
Flaw fixing, easy to use, multi tasking products. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?
Now what have I tried, and how did they work out?
Tinkerbell’s Fairy Face Palette, for $34
My friend Melanie of Disney Lifestyle Blog recently featured the Pixi Glow makeup line in a product review, and I was instantly hooked.
Self awareness dictates that I admit it was initially the Tinkerbell Fairy Face Palette which reeled me in. How could any self-respecting Disney Loving Girl not be a total sucker for this?
“How lovely of them to put this together just for me!” That’s how I felt when I first opened the kit.
The eye shadow colors they included are absolutely my favorite shades, so I was happy to see them pulled together into one compact.
The darkest brown is dark enough and the applicator small and precise enough that you can also use this as an eye liner, which looks fantastic.
I prefer a natural look, and typically just use a lip gloss, but I was surprised at how I also loved many of the lip colors. Once applied, most of them are not stark or too drastic. And the cool thing about the Fairy Face Palette is you can blend and mix the colors as you go, allowing you much flexibility.
You know how some eye shadows are a matte color, and others have more sparkle? These shades included all have a shimmery sparkle, including the blush.
I’m not one to pay much attention to my blush. But without overdoing the effect, the blush included has a slight glimmer to it. It really does leave your face and cheeks with just a touch of sparkle. You know, cause it’s Tinkerbell makeup! I love it.
I would absolutely purchase this product on my own dime. And when this one runs out …I intend to do just that!
Flawless Beauty Primer, for $28
Typically, I do not look for steps, layers, or products to add to my beauty routine. It’s a big enough hassle as it is, I say.
Curious about the Flawless Beauty Primer however, I was happy to try it out and see if I truly found any difference or added benefit?
As soon as you squirt this silky pink fluid on to your finger, you discover their secret: I’m pretty sure there’s Pixie Dust in it! It has a beautiful shimmer and silky feel to it.
I’ll warn you, directly after applying, for a couple of minutes your face will look almost wet and shiny. It does dry from this state, leaving your face with more of a luster to it.
You can either quit there (don’t forget your sunscreen, please!) or add foundation on top. You can also apply this over your foundation at the end of the day, for a pick me up.
They claim it evens out your skin tone, and I do think it does, a little bit. I have ruddy tones to my skin, however – and didn’t see a huge color evening out take place. At least not as much as a tinted moisturizer typically does. Perhaps it’s because of the pink undertones in the primer.
BUT – it really does add a nice sheen and very slight sparkle to your skin, that was definitely perceptible. Overall, a fun and worthwhile product.
Wakeup Concealer, for $18
I am so tired of looking so tired. Are you with me on this one?
I can’t believe I had forgotten about this beauty option: concealer! Of course, now why didn’t I think of that? I have not used one in years.
Perhaps one reason is because this Wakeup Concealer is vastly superior to any concealer I have tried in the past. Plus, it’s waterproof. And I can attest to the fact that at the end of the day – it has done a great job of staying put.
I was honestly surprised at what a difference this made to getting rid of the ugly black circles under my eyes. Especially on those days when my Wild Baby decided to start his [our] day at 5:30 AM.
I love that the tip is like a soft paintbrush. You twist the bottom of the applicator, which squirts a controlled amount of product up through the center of the brush. You can then easily and gently control the application around your eyes, or wherever needed.
I think it’s worth mentioning, this is not a product I received for review . I purchased this on my own. I am very excited about many of the Pixi Beauty offerings, and going forward I fully intend to use, and continue to purchase, them.
Where You Can Find Pixi Beauty – Coupon Code
You can purchase Pixi Beauty on their website, or directly at Ulta or Target stores. I found it helpful to run to Target so I could see the colors and try out some of the testers before ordering online.
And you will probably want to order online. Because for a very limited time, Colorado Mountain Mom readers can use coupon code comtnmomfan for a 20% discount off your order!
This is a great opportunity, but only lasts through this Friday, May 25th.
I received two of the Pixi Beauty products discussed here at no cost, for the purposes of this review. But all opinions are my own.
