Travel Kool With TrendyKid’s Travel Gear
As the airlines continue to squeeze additional fees out of travelers left and right, more and more people are resorting to packing smarter (ie lighter) and bringing a carry-on suitcase. Since my kids are now of an age where they can negotiate their own rolling case through an airport, I began the quest for a great kids travel gear option. I found TrendyKid, a Washington DC-based children’s travel accessory company. And we were very excited when our TrendyKid Travel Kool Case arrived!
TrendyKid Travel Kool Case
Billed as being the perfect size and style for tweens, the TrendyKid Travel Kool case is a great 17″ size, meeting carry-on regulations. This is an ABS hard shell design case, so it’s nice and light weight. In the world of hard-side luggage, ABS is said to be not as durable of a material as polycarbonate. But it is lighter, which is probably a more important feature in a kids travel case.
It features polyester lining and polycarbonate wheels. If you do decide to check your bag, having a hard case will protect your contents nicely.
The Travel Kool case features both a carry handle on top, along with a retractable pull-handle that adjusts for either adults or kids. (Not that we parents ever get stuck carrying/pulling one of our children’s bags…?)
The wheels are nice quality, making navigation easy. The zippers all seem sturdy, and glide easily (this is always a high priority for me, in any bag with zippers).
We will be flying with the Travel Kool soon, and are looking forward to testing it out for air travel. But for now, it recently took a trial weekend run on our camping trip. My daughter had plenty of room for her weekend needs.
We like the layout inside the Travel Kool case. You can fill half of the compartment with clothing or other items, then zipper it closed with the fabric divider. This helps keep things organized, as well as offering a way to keep them separated from the items you may store on the other half, and wish to access more frequently.
This allows your child to keep items they may want to access during the trip… like that essential stuffed animal, books, or Barbie.
The Travel Kool case is available in the following two styles.
Travel Kool Case ~ “Chat”
The colorful and fun Travel Kool “Chat” style, features a rainbow array of social media icons and symbols your tween will enjoy. This was a BIG hit with my 8 year old, as I suspect it would be with any young girl.
Travel Kool Case ~ “Danger”
Or if the steely cool style of the Travel Kool Danger is more your child’s style, you may want to check out this design. I haven’t seen one of these in person, but not only are the signs pretty slick… I love the background pattern it features.
“Hands-off mom!” 😉 Contents *may* or *may not* be hazardous to your health. Watch out what your son packs in this.
And on that note, why not let your kids pack for themselves?
Travel Packing Tips for Kids
I wanted to share this, because I stumbled across an interview with Rachel and thought she had some great ideas on the topic of packing tips for kids.
TrendyKid co-founder Rachel Stephens travels frequently with her two young children, and has developed some packing tips for kids which have worked well for her family. She explains, “It’s important for kids to be responsible for packing their essentials; it makes the prep for any trip – including day trips to the zoo, amusement park, museum and even play dates – fun,” she said. “Kids can pack their own toys, storybooks, little games and snacks themselves.”
One of the strategies Rachel developed is P.A.C.K.
P – Plan your games and activities for the journey.
A – Anything you won’t miss you don’t need.
C – Can fit in your own bag.
K – Keep your must-haves in your backpack!
I’m thinking those “I may need to grab this” must-haves would also work nicely in the open/easy access half of your TrendyKid Travel Kool case, too.
TrendyKid Travel Gear
You can order Trendy Kid travel gear directly on their website. They also feature an adorable line of animal (and also robot!) themed smaller wheeled travel bags for your little ones, called Travel Buddies.
The quality of these cases, along with the creativity and thought which have gone into their design, make TrendyKid best in class when it comes to kids luggage. If you are in the market for travel gear for your family trips, or even just a great case for your kids adventures – be sure to check them out.
