Time is running fast when you are having a good time and this surely happens once you you visit Mykonos too. The rush of finding the ideal Mykonos villas to rent, the abundance of activities, places to visit, things to do and see, the thousands of amazing restaurants, bars and clubs will always give you the feeling that you have missed some of the important ones out. There is no need to worry, because here you will find the top 5 must-do things in Mykonos – check them out and make sure you don’t skip any of them.

Visit a Museum or Art Gallery

Mykonos is a paradise for art lovers. There are many museums and art galleries you can visit and take a trip to other dimensions.

By visiting a museum you can have a closer look on the island’s past, from the ancient times till a few centuries ago. The most important museums in Mykonos are the Archaeological Museum of Mykonos, the Aegean Maritime Museum, Lena’s House (Folk Museum), the Agricultural Museum (Mylos tou Boni) and Delos Archaeological Museum. All except the last one are located in Mykonos Town and are easily accessible for travellers.

Art galleries in Mykonos bring the latest trends in art. Here you will find paintings, sculptures and other pieces of art made by famous artists but also by new, promising ones. There are more than 20 galleries in Mykonos but the most well-known are Rarity Gallery, Minima Gallery, Mosaic Art, Mykonos Art Gallery and the Big White Gallery.

Go to as Many Beaches as You Can

Mykonos has around 30 beaches so it is obvious you cannot visit them all, unless you spend a month on the island. Our advice would be to visit different types of beaches and not to spend all of your days to the most famous ones.

A good idea is to rent a jeep or a motorbike so that you can easily access even the most remote beaches. Moreover, independence in moving around will give you the ability to see 2-3 beaches that are close to each other, before you decide where you will spend your day.

If you are planning to visit virgin beaches, be prepared and take everything you may need with you, including food, water and umbrellas.

Visit Little Venice at Sunset

Although you can easily watch the sunset from the balcony of your Mykonos Villa, the amazing beachfront neighborhood in Mykonos Town becomes spectacular during sunset. You will find a lot of cafes and restaurants in the area where you can sit after a day on the beach or after a big walk around the city. Make sure you find a good table, order an exotic cocktail and enjoy the colors of the sun’s last rays.

Don’t forget to take a good camera with you as you will definitely want to share with your friends the beauty of these idyllic moments.

Nightlife inside the Alleys of Mykonos

The center of Mykonos Town is full of bars and clubs where you can drink and dance. In some particular areas of the city, like Matogianni Square, Little Venice and Tria Pigadia, the bars are literally next to each other so bar hopping is very easy.

In fact, bar hopping is very common in Mykonos. You don’t have to listen to the same kind of music or watch the same faces the whole night – so the logical thing to do after you have a couple of drinks is to move to the next bar. Mykonian nights are long and bar hopping is a must!

Rent a Boat and Visit the Islands of Ancient Delos and Rhenia

Delos island is the small gem of the Cyclades, located in west of Mykonos. In ancient times it was very famous as the birthplace of god Apollo, a great religious center and an important port for ships travelling through the Aegean and Mediterranean Sea.

Apart from the amazing, huge excavation site and the museum, where visitors can see exhibits older than 5,000 years, Delos has some beautiful, serene beaches accessible only by the sea. You can visit the island by the public ferry boat or you can rent a boat or a luxury yacht with a skipper.

Rhenia is a second islet nearby with the same nice beaches and serenity. Both islets are not inhabited and staying overnight is forbidden. They can be easily seen from Mykonos Island, especially if you are staying in a Mykonos Luxury Villa at the west – south end of Mykonos.
