6 Things To Love About Fall
It’s not a hard season to love. And if it didn’t herald winter on it’s immediate haunches, I’d reckon many would say it’s their favorite time of year. Since I finally live somewhere that actually has 3 months spent in each season, as God intended (no offense, South Dakota)… I absolutely love Fall! Here are some of my favorite things about it.
Pumpkin Spiced Anything
Either Starbucks has changed their #PSL (ridiculously priced Pumpkin Spiced Latte) recipe to include a nearly inconsumable amount of flavoring, or I’ve gotten too old to handle it. Don’t get me wrong… I still order one from time to time, because they are pretty fantastic. But that’s because of my overall pumpkin addiction.
Pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin pie, pumpkin buttermilk pancakes (for real – check that recipe out!), burning pumpkin scented candles. Can’t. Get. Enough.
New Episodes of Favorite TV Series
I don’t watch that much TV, and had honestly forgotten about this one. Until I was sick this past week, and found myself searching through the very long list of cartoons we have recorded on our DVR player for something to entertain me. I was literally too tired to hold my book up. And I wasn’t up for yet another episode of Curious George.
Wait a minute. What do we have here…? A brand spanking new episode of Madam Secretary?? Yes, please!
Scarves, Scarves, Scarves
Being the sucker for scarves that I am, I’ve really lucked out during my stint as an Aventura Ambassador. Their scarves are hard to beat, and I’ve bolstered my arsenal considerably. Be it infinity or traditional wrap, lightweight woven or hand knit in Italy. All so very delightful. I rarely leave home without one.
This really is one of my favorite things about Fall!
Playing Outside Without Getting Heat Stroke
Not typically one to shy away from sun-baking heat, you have to admit that it hampers your plans for outdoor sports or activity. Personally, I can’t run when it’s 95 degrees out. You know, without fainting and/or dying. It’s not so fun (or safe) for a hike, either. Aaaahhhh… enter blissful Fall temperatures.
Hello, perfect playing outside weather. Goodbye, excuses.
First Eggs
From Spring backyard chickens!
This past March, we joined the Backyard Chicken Club, with six lovely additions to our family: Tink, Bambi, Clementine, Paris, Peaches, and Flynn Rider (my 5 year old son thinks his hen is a boy). They are now happily free ranging in our urban back yard, and have recently started laying delicious and nutritious eggs. Wooo hooo! This was a very exciting development, for us farmer wanna-be’s.
Exploding Outdoor Color
If you live where there are Deciduous trees, or even better – Deciduous Trees mixed with Evergreens… is there a more beautiful time of year? I think not. Breathtaking! One of my favorite driving routes to see the Fall colors in Western Colorado is the Grand Mesa Byway. You can read more about that in my first guest post I recently wrote for TravelingMom.com.
It doesn’t get much better than that. 🙂
