Bringing the Outdoors into Your Home

When you’re a family who loves spending time outdoors, it can sometimes feel a little dull coming back home after a day of adventuring. Instead of pining for the forests and mountains at times where you need to stay put, you can look into ways of recreating the outdoors, and your passion, within those stone walls.

Not only will this allow you to feel more peaceful when you need to be inside, but it can also be great to show off your hobby, and be used as a talking point for when you are entertaining guests.

Canvas Prints

While you may already have photos of your family up in your home, either in frames on tables and windowsills, or up on the walls, you may also want to consider opting for using a canvas material. You can buy high quality panoramic canvas prints that can show off some of your fun adventures, making the most of a great landscape format so that nothing is lost. Whether this involves images including your family, or simply some of the stunning views that you have seen on treks.

Panoramic images can really be great when it comes to scenic images of mountains, forests, and rivers, so you can pick out one of your favorites, or go out and find that perfect shot that can then be hung up on the walls of your home.

Plants

One of the main rules when out in nature is to not pick anything from the roots. That being said, you could look into some of the plants you see when on your nature walks, research whether or not it is feasible and safe to grow them at home, and then take cuttings. These can allow you to have your own plants in your home or garden, while still ensuring the survival of the original plant out in the open.

The time of year that you take cuttings will depend on what type of plant they are, and if they have soft or hard wood. On top of this, you will need to make sure you are able to meet their soil and nutrient requirements, as well as to keep them at the correct temperature.

Let in More Natural Light

At certain times of the year, it can be tempting to keep blinds and curtains closed to hide away from the rain, dullness, and cold. In doing so, you are also shutting out nature. Instead, you can make sure that your windows and doors are fully insulated, and still let the light in. Even if you cannot go out, you can still admire the outside world from the comfort and warmth of your own home.

On top of this, exposure to natural light helps you to gain Vitamin D, reduces stress, and can save on the electricity bill.

Getting out and about can be wonderful for your mind, body, and soul, but that doesn’t mean you can’t also enjoy time spent indoors too. By finding some great ways to keep your mind and home focused on nature, your home can feel that bit more personal to you.
