Athletic Gear for Tweens by Dragonwing Girlgear

With my daughter being more active this year than ever before, how exciting to find some athletic gear made just for tween girls by Dragonwing Girlgear!  She helped wear the goods, and perform this review… so here’s what we found after having my 10 year old girl wear this active wear for a month of running and gymnastics.

This great company was founded by a soccer mom, who (in her own words):

“…wanted girls everywhere to be empowered to play sports with determination and joy—free from distraction and constraint.”

They feature a basic, high quality line of solid pieces tween girls can use for multiple purposes.   The lineup includes tees, tanks, sports bra, shorts, and full or capri length leggings.

My daughter has been enrolled in “Girls On The Run” this Spring, and we recently just ran our first 5k together!  She wore her Dragonwing capris, and they worked really well for running.

These are Dragonwing Girlgear Chill Weight Capri Leggings, available in either solid black, or with the blue accent at the bottom cuff (shown above).  Note the cute dragonfly at the bottom – love that!

They are much nicer quality than the cheap athletic capris for kids, typically found at retailers.  Which means they are also softer, more durable, longer lasting, better fitting, and much more comfortable!  They quickly became her absolute favorite pair.  I have to cajole her into letting me wash them, and then she’s right back in them.  🙂  She says they feel noticeably different, better, than all her other capris.

They are “chill weight” because they are an awesome thickness.  During her cooler spring runs, this came in handy.  Yet she’s also worn them for indoor activities and running on a high 70’s day, and they weren’t at all too hot.

As a mom, I love that with one Dragonwing Girlgear “outfit”, she has the needed active wear gear for two different sports, both running and even gymnastics.  These versatile pieces could really be worn for any tween girls’ athletic endeavor.

We also received an Un-tee Sports Cami.  This piece features the cute dragonfly logo along the bottom hem.  It’s made from a soft, yet technical fabric to wick sweat and dry quickly.  With an inner shelf bra, she either wears this alone when it’s warm, or underneath as a base layer.

This cami is soft, comfortable, and again… much nicer quality than the cheap options sold in most stores like Target or Walmart.  Plus it comes in a rainbow of fun colors!

Making active wear clothing for tween girls to feel comfortable and special is such a great concept.  If you’re encouraging your daughter to learn to live an active lifestyle, it helps to inspire them by providing not only the opportunities, but the gear they can use to feel confident and strong.
