You Deserve it! 5 Ways You Can Treat Yourself
The following article is a collaborative post.
We all live such hectic and fast paced lives. And time seems to march by twice as fast when you have little ones around your feet. As busy parents we don’t often get time to ourselves, which is both rewarding and exhausting, but just because you’re super busy being the best mum you can be, doesn’t mean you can’t look after yourself and give yourself a little TLC.
Wondering where to start? Don’t worry. Here you’ll find 5 ways to treat yourself.
A Weekend Away
Not always straightforward when you have little ones in the picture, but if you get the babysitting arranged well enough in advance you’ll certainly have something to look forward to in the near future. Whether you’re getting away with your partner for the weekend in a gorgeous boutique B&B, or you’re heading to the bright lights of the city for a couple of days to feel like grown ups again; treating yourself to a weekend away will allow you to let your hair down and come back feeling refreshed and ready to take on your everyday life again. Head to the Spa
A full weekend at a day spa sounds incredible and it’s probably just what the Dr ordered after chasing after the kids day in day out, but it might not be in your budget right now. So, consider heading to your local spa or beauty parlour and treating yourself to a head and shoulder massage, or hot stone massage? Pamper your skin with a facial or body wrap, and you’ll feel like a million dollars. Shop around and see if there are any local beauty parlours that do the treatment you’re looking for at a lower price.
Go Outdoors
Spending time in nature really does have health benefits. Spending as little as ten minutes a day in the great outdoors can reduce your blood pressure and help to combat those stress levels. Try and take yourself on a long walk, take in the sights, sounds and smells that nature has to offer. The best thing about it is that it’s totally free!
Head to the Gym
Doesn’t sound like a traditional kind of treat. But heading to the gym is a great way to reduce your stress, get fit and give yourself a good mental boost. Sign up to a new class, or get dad to put the kids to bed tonight and head to the gym alone. Your call.
Go to Bed Early
You might have a million things to do, but can’t they wait? Will the world really fall apart if you don’t iron those socks? Once the kids are settled, head up to bed, get yourself into your cosiest PJs, light a candle or two and slip into some gorgeously fresh bed linen. You could put on a movie to watch, or even read a book. However you relax just remember that you deserve it.
